Changes in mobile content posting for Carson Now

Growing pains for Carson Now

As some of you night owls might have noticed, we had an outage on the Carson Now website Monday night/Tuesday morning, for about 7 hours. But this was a good problem.

The traffic for this site has more than doubled over the last six weeks. That traffic finally caught up with us on Monday, and became too much for our old web server to handle.

Tea Party Carson City: Smiles for now in an otherwise sea of venom, hostility at president

With veiled threats to the governors of Nevada and several other states last month by a far-right militia group, the amount of anti-government fervor may be boiling over nationally, but all is peaceful today in Carson City as more than a thousand have gathered at the Capitol to protest President Barack Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and health care.

Oh, and taxes. But there were far more anti-Obama and Harry Reid signs and a few Hitler ones than anything remotely about the IRS, today being the filing deadline for federal income taxes.

Big Turnover in Nevada Legislature

CARSON CITY – Thanks to term limits and decisions by some lawmakers not to seek re-election, at least 16 members of the Nevada Legislature will not be returning in 2011, and the number could end up being even higher after Election Day in November.
Sixteen lawmakers are termed out of office in the 2010 election cycle, but three so far have filed for different legislative offices and could return to the Legislature for the 2011 session.
