Smack dab in the middle of April and the town is officially in its Spring thaw. Easter is on Sunday, so just about anywhere you go you’ll find the Bunny and an egg hunt. To make it easy, I’ve moved all of those events to their own everything Easter list HERE.

El Día de los niños/El Día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures.

The Carson City Library is hosting programs during the month of April to celebrate Día to promote diversity, language, culture, and learning in Carson City!

To participate:
Pick up a Día Passport at any Día program. The kick off event is on Wednesday, 4/5/17.

StorySongs with Egg Maracas at the Carson City Library

Come learn about culture and diversity in Carson City through, song, dance, and crafts! We will be making Egg Maracas for the kids to take home in this Diversity in Action program.

Start the day making something beautiful. The Muscle Powered Trash Mob descends upon our new downtown for some clean-up and coffee. Kids will enjoy the Tales and Wags program at the Library where they get to read to therapy dogs and acquire a new book in the process. It’s a Carson/Douglas Army/Navy rivalry as the JROTC programs hit the field at Carson High for a game of flag football. Keep reading and you’re sure to find something that sounds fun.

Come discover Nevada's rich natural and cultural heritage in an inspiring, interactive workshop through visual and musical storytelling.

Award-winning artists – songwriter/performer Jim Eaglesmith and nature photographer/geologist Mark Vollmer – will help you learn what rocks create the ground beneath Eagle Valley & the Carson City Library, and the life that this geology supports.
