When the Carson City Downtown Business Association (DBA) says the monthly Wine Walk is held rain, snow or shine, it isn't kidding around.

Carson City's downtown business and historic districts were bustling Saturday with Wine Walk participants enjoying sights and sips, despite cool, wet weather that failed to dampen their spirits.

Not only is Friday the first day of March in this 2019 calendar year but it is also the end of the work week. And for this we say welcome to a month that brings us the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, which is this Saturday, NCAA basketball playoffs, St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the first day of spring. Carson Valley's own high-octane, traditional Irish music group returns to the Celtic Music Series for a Saint Patrick's Day blow-out, featuring the fiddle duo of 2017 and 2018 Nevada State Fiddle Champion, Holly Sternberg along with Tina Carlsen.

Come to the Brewery Art Center's Black Box Theatre in Carson City on March 16, be sure to wear green and be a part of the holiday fun. The show begins at 7 p.m.

LAKE TAHOE — It was March Madness on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe Sunday as more than 200 people braved frigid waters all in the spirit of raising money for Special Olympics.

Area residents braved the cold this St. Patrick's Day to raise money for Childhood Cancer Research during the "Brave the Shave" event Saturday in downtown Carson City.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as other employees for the Nevada Department of Public Safety will be participating in the South Lake Tahoe “Polar Plunge” on Sunday, March 18.

UPDATE: The Polar Plunge has been postponed and moved to Sunday, March 18 instead of St. Patrick's Day, Saturday, March 17, because of inclement weather.

The Special Olympics of Northern California and Nevada is currently holding a fundraiser for children and adults with disabilities that will culminate in the Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 17, at Zephyr Cove at south shore Lake Tahoe in Douglas County.

Multi-talented music industry entrepreneur David Victor, formerly of the classic rock band BOSTON, returns to Northern Nevada on Saturday, March 17 to perform with his tribute act Bostyx.

Bagpipes, drums, river dancers and a live rock band brought St. Patrick's Day revelers to their feet Friday on McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City.

Area pubs, bars and restaurants were crowded Friday afternoon and into the evening around Carson City as celebrants embraced the traditional Irish holiday.

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Jonathan McRae played the bagpipes today in front of the Richard H. Bryan Building at 901 S. Stewart Street in Carson City.

Irish eyes are smiling on us: it’s going to be a gorgeous day. You won’t have to look far for some green beer, whiskey, or corned beef – there will be St. Patrick’s Day parties all over. Live music is on the menu, as well. Choose from Men of Worth at the Brewery Arts Center, an all ages punk show at Sassafras, or Stereo Galaxy in the McFadden Plaza, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The brave ones will be at the St. Baldrick Fundraiser at Red’s Old 395 where you’ll see some heads shaved for a good cause. Where ever you end up, just make sure you have a plan to get home safely.

If you're looking for an all out St. Patrick's Day experience, you're not going to want to miss the march- through bagpipe performance by the Sierra Highlander Pipe Band. Start your St. Patrick's day off right with Trivia Night at the Carson City Library! Carson Sunset Rotary Club is hosting the event by selling alcoholic drinks and library staff will be creating and hosting the trivia questions. Must be 21 years of age or older to participate, so make sure to bring your ID.

It was bag pipes and Irish song favorites at the Richard H. Bryan Building on Stewart Street in Carson City this St. Patrick's Day afternoon. Jonathan McRae of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Protection, gives an an impromptu bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace to employees.

Saint Patrick was a gentleman, who through strategy and stealth, drove all the snakes from Ireland, here’s a toasting to his health. But not too many toastings, lest you lose yourself and then, forget the good Saint Patrick and see all those snakes again! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Carson City. With St. Patrick's Day being one of the biggest holidays centered around partying, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department will have a DUI Checkpoint as well as extra patrols on the roads to help lower deaths and injuries.
The checkpoint will be held from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, March 17.

Known for its Wild West traditions and old miner Comstock legends, Virginia City has its authentic Nevada history and quirky, outlandish special events that keep people from around the world coming back for more.

This year is no different as the town’s 2016 special events calendar includes fan favorites such as the International Camel and Ostrich Races, the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and several parades as well as a brand new event, a western rodeo in September.

For more than two decades, the historic mining town of Virginia City, Nev. has gone nuts over St. Patrick's Day weekends. Literally. The Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, known around these parts as the Comstock's own testicle festival, is a play on words.
