Special Olympics Nevada raised more than $2,000 during a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser held Thursday at the Chili's restaurant on Topsy Lane in South Carson City, said David Sorensen of Special Olympics Nevada.

Chili’s will host a Tip-A-Cop event this Thursday, April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a percentage of sales going to Special Olympics Nevada.

Individuals and teams from Carson City, Northern Nevada and Northern California took an icy cold dip into Lake Tahoe Saturday for the annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge, raising around $150,000 for the program's many functions.

Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada will host the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge fundraiser on Saturday, March 18, in the icy waters of Lake Tahoe at Zephyr Cove Resort. The Plunge will be featured during a full weekend of events and activities to benefit Special Olympics.

Law officers in Dayton and Lyon County will be hosting a Tip-a-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Nevada on Thursday, March 9 at the 1st and 10 Bar and Grill, 240 Dayton Valley Road in Dayton.

Special Olympics Nevada and Northern California will host the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge fundraiser beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, in the icy waters of Lake Tahoe at Zephyr Cove Resort. The 2017 Polar Plunge will feature a “space odyssey” theme and raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics and its athletes.

Special Olympics athletes, program leaders, Unified Partners and family members from 39 states and the District of Columbia converged on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 15, for Special Olympics’ 15th annual “Capitol Hill Day.”

There will be a Tip-a-Cop fundraiser for Carson City Special Olympics on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings, 3815 S Carson Street in Carson City. Law enforcement officers from various agencies will be on hand as food servers. Tip-a-Cop proceeds collected will go to Special Olympics Nevada.

Nevada law enforcement officers love their state's Special Olympians, and the athletes love their officers.

Even with the rain, the energy was pure soccer and a winning spirit Saturday at Edmonds Sports Complex in Carson City as Special Olympics Nevada hosted its Northern Nevada Regional Soccer Tournament. It was a day where the Carson Kickers and Carson Strikers matched up with each other along with the Washoe Wolfpack.

A Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser for Special Olympics is today at all Northern Nevada Applebee's locations. Come in and have a great meal and meet local law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes. Lunch continues through 4pm and dinner is from 5pm to 9pm. Tips from the event go to Special Olympics Nevada. The Carson City Applebee's is located at 3300 S Carson St.

Several Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as other employees for the Department of Public Safety, will be volunteering their time to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada and California on Friday, March 20, 2015 in the Hard Rock Café located at Lake Tahoe.

Michelle Hale has been named Greater Nevada Credit Union’s new Member Outreach Supervisor. She will oversee both community relations and member outreach.

Her community relations responsibilities will entail acting as liaison between Greater Nevada and the organizations it supports, including the University of Nevada Marching Band and Wolf Pack Athletics, Special Olympics Nevada, and the Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity. She will also coordinate Greater Nevada’s financial literacy efforts through local schools and other groups.

Mathew Bailey of Carson City couldn't help but smile as he finished in ninth place in the 100-meter dash at the 2014 Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games in Reno.

"My mom is here and she's up on the bleachers," said Bailey, 23. "Anyways, I dedicated this race to my mom."

Thursday, April 24 is the Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser at Applebee's in Carson City, Reno, and Sparks. Come out and have a great meal and donate to a great cause. There will be local law enforcement officers and Special Olympic athletes at the event to help out. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner is 5 to 9 p.m. Hope to see you there.

Donned in costumes, but without the protection of wet suits, Special Olympics athletes and their supporters will jump into icy waters on March 23 for the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Northern Nevada and California.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is proud to announce that Trooper Ron Larson is the senior trooper in the Silver State, with 24 years of service.

In those years Trooper Larson has committed himself to being an outstanding Sergeant, Trooper, Field Training Officer (FTO), mentor and friend. Larson started his career in a then 16-week training academy to learn the duties of a Trooper in the Highway Patrol and flourished from there. He was fortunate to have worked in only two duty stations throughout his career, Reno and Carson City, both within Northern Command West.

Several law enforcement officers from Northern Nevada and South Lake Tahoe will volunteer their time Thursday by participating in the annual Applebee’s “Tip-A-Cop” fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Nevada. Officers and deputies will serve during the lunch and dinner-time hours shadowing the restaurant staff as honorary waiters and waitresses. A special envelope will be left at each table for those patrons wishing to donate.

Teams of super heroes, penguins, pirates and other eye-catching characters jumped into Lake Tahoe last winter. On March 19, they’ll do it again, and you’re invited to join them as Special Olympics Nevada co-hosts the “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge® 2011 at Zephyr Cove, South Lake Tahoe. The event is open to all and will include entertainment, a costume contest, prizes, and Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and volunteers who will share their experiences with the organization’s inspiring programs.

The Northern Nevada Special Olympics program will support training and competition for 97 new bowlers this year and wants all area bowlers to participate in a fundraiser.

The "Bowl for the Gold" community fundraiser will take place on Friday, Nov. 12 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. Sign-in begins at 5 p.m. Bowling begins at 6 p.m. This is the inaugural "Bowl for the Gold” event in Reno.  A “Bowl for the Gold” event has been hosted for three consecutive years in Las Vegas to support southern Nevada bowlers.
