Nevada Highway Patrol Awards Senior Trooper in the State with No. 1 Badge
The Nevada Highway Patrol is proud to announce that Trooper Ron Larson is the senior trooper in the Silver State, with 24 years of service.
In those years Trooper Larson has committed himself to being an outstanding Sergeant, Trooper, Field Training Officer (FTO), mentor and friend. Larson started his career in a then 16-week training academy to learn the duties of a Trooper in the Highway Patrol and flourished from there. He was fortunate to have worked in only two duty stations throughout his career, Reno and Carson City, both within Northern Command West.
From March 11, 2003 to August 27, 2007 Larson held the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to Reno where he completed four and a half years of his five years as Sergeant before transferring back to Carson City where he has served since then. Larson relinquished the rank of sergeant and remained a trooper in Carson City. He felt that he would be more effective as a trooper and help train future troopers to patrol the roadways of northern Nevada.
Larson has dedicated his career to helping his community and there is not any place he goes that someone doesn’t recognize him or even approaches him and thanks him for all he has done. Larson has given countless volunteer hours to not only his community, but Special Olympics Nevada and he is the current president of, Peace Officer Research Association of Nevada (PORAN), one of the two associations representing peace officers throughout Nevada and California.
The Colonel of the Highway Patrol, Troy L. Abney, will be presenting Trooper Larson with his new badge this Friday at the Nevada Highway Patrol Head Quarters located in Carson City.
