Join us for a beautiful seven-mile hike, with five water crossings and stunning views, on Genoa Canyon Trail in Carson Valley. This hike begins with a 1300 ft elevation gain and ends with a 1300 ft elevation drop. The highest elevation on the trail is 6140 ft. The trail’s first two miles includes uphill switchbacks, then continues 3 miles south across the face of the mountains, and finally back down two miles of steep switchbacks to Carson Street in Genoa.

I’ve been lied to before, most often by my weather app on my cell phone, and yet, I still look to it for truth. If it's to believed, springtime arrives tomorrow. I think we are all ready for some warmer, sunny days. Western Nevada College is hosting a reception for the student artists whose work is now adorning their gallery walls, go take a gander. You’ll probably want to layer up if you join Muscle Powered on today’s hike from Ash Canyon to Kings Canyon. It might be a little chilly, but the views of our valley are worth it.

Join plant experts for a moderately difficult guided hikes to learn about local wildflowers, including the rare plant: monkeyflower! Please wear sturdy shoes and meet us 10 a.m. Sunday, April 22 at the Prison Hill Clearview Trailhead at 2600 E Clearview Drive. The walk is hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space.

Well, we won’t see any wet stuff today, but the clear skies could mean a nip to the air. Join the Carson Library for coloring night; they have plenty of pictures to choose from. Bobbie Ann Howell is at the center of today’s Artist Reception at the Nevada Arts Council. You’ll hear her discuss her exhibit ‘Vistas and Viewpoints.’ Head down to Pizza Factory to lend a hand to Mark Twain Elementary School: just make sure to mention you are there for the fundraiser.

The week is starting out with a spattering of snow, just enough to remind us how unpredictable our weather can be. It’ll make for a difficult morning commute but won’t be long-lived. Enjoy some old-timey music on your lunch break. CW, Dave Leather, and the Doctor perform each Monday at A to Zen. Get your dancing shoes on for High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s weekly night out at Carson Lanes. The stage is open to all-ages at Fox Brewpub’s karaoke night.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a reported robbery at Little Caesar's Pizza at the Carson Mall.

The robbery was reported to emergency dispatch shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
