Memorial exhibit, virtual prevention walk, music and more highlight weekend around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Western Nevada College will host a memorial exhibit and informational presentation on the 9-11 attacks on Friday. Partnership Carson City will team up for a statewide suicide prevention virtual walk this Saturday. Along with live music and a 5K run/walk at Bob McFadden Plaza, there is plenty of excitement buzzing around the state capitol! Read on for more information.

Carson City, Quad area COVID-19 Thursday briefing: 15 new cases, four recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services reports Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 that there are 15 new cases and four additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,121, with 1,002 recoveries and 15 deaths, 104 cases remain active.

Carson City Republican Women to Hear Maurice White

The Carson City Republican Women's Club will hear candidate for Carson City Supervisor Maurice White at their upcoming luncheon meeting.The meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Casino Fandango commencing at 11 a.m.

Douglas County Hosts Public Workshops, Public Information Website on 2020 Master Plan Text Update

Douglas County is kicking off the process to update the Master Plan Text and is calling on residents to help shape the future of their community. A webpage has been constructed to provide the public with additional information regarding the update and public outreach has begun.

The goals and objectives contained in the Douglas County Master Plan text guides the decisions of the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission related to the long term planning and development of the County over the next 10-20 years.

Nevada Artists Association presents 2020 'Summer Show' exhibit collection

Jean Hamilton passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday Dec. 3rd.
Jean married Bud Hamilton on December 22, 1956 in Lindsey, California. They moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1972. Jean always wanted to be a nurse and went to nursing school as soon as all her kids were in school. She enjoyed a 37 year career as a Registered Nurse, with the majority of it spent at Carson Tahoe Hospital. Everyone who worked with her, or were under her care, said she was truly the best nurse.

Kids Fishing Day at Baily's Pond reels in good times

Baily's Pond in South Carson hosted a free Kids Fishing Day Saturday to encourage young anglers into the sport of fishing.

The pond was stocked and ready for the little reelers to catch their dinners for the night. A cleaning station was available on site to help with getting their fish ready to take home.

Carson Valley Senior Living donates $3,750 to local veterans’ group

Carson Valley Senior Living and Memory Care donates $3,750

Carson Valley Senior Living and Memory Care donated 50 percent of the community’s total move-in fees from November and December 2018 to the Wounded Warrior Project. The amount totaled $3,750.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001.
