Senior Celebration

The Senior Celebration held Thursday at the Casino Fandango Ballroom in Carson City went off without a hitch with festivities including raffles, a cake walk, live entertainment, medical screenings and more.

The 21st annual Senior Celebration is coming to the new ball room of the Casino Fandango in Carson City on Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is Northern Nevada’s largest health and information fair in honor of Older American month. Senior Celebration is a free event with over 70 senior living experts who will be gathering to share information about their products and services.

The 21st annual Senior Celebration is coming to the new ball room of the Casino Fandango on Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is Northern Nevada’s largest health and information fair in honor of Old American month.

The 20th Anniversary Senior Celebration will be held today in the Carson Nugget; free for all to attend, you’ll have the chance to visit a variety of booths with information and resources. After yesterday’s freakish hailstorm, we may as well be ready for anything. More thunderstorms might be on the way this afternoon, but I can’t promise they follow any kind of schedule. The first of the season Third Thursday Wine Walk in downtown Gardnerville is this afternoon, and you may want to bring an umbrella as you sip and stroll.

How’d we get to Thursday so quickly? Choose from live music at Living the Good Life, a fun night of karaoke at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar, or even a lecture on the Dayton Cemetery. Join Muscle Powered for a Washoe Valley hike this morning or a bike ride this afternoon. Maybe some salsa dancing is what you’re in the mood for; if so, head to El Charro Avita. The weekend is almost here, and it’s one of those wonderful three day ones. You’ll find festivities all over, but I know better than to try to guess what kind of weather we’ll see. Rain is predicted, but the weather is the one thing we don’t bet on here in Northern Nevada. Keep dry today at the Senior Celebration at the Nugget sponsored by the Senior Service Network. Tap into the steamy south tonight with the Southern Drawl Band. The Brewery Arts Center is the only Nevada venue on their coast to coast tour, and this Country, Southern Rock, Trop Rock, Bluegrass blend of music is sure to be a great show!

• CCAI Exhibit: Tuscarora, by artist Ron Arthaud at the Carson City Community Center’s Sierra Room (available during public meetings and most evenings 5pm-8pm)

This is a free health and information fair for seniors and their families in honor of Older Americans month! There will be entertainment and giveaways, including live music from the thirties, forties, and fifties by Sandi TenBoer, raffles, and a cake walk. There will also be free screening and testing for blood pressure, blood glucose, and other conditions.

The fair will run from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Carson Nugget ballrooms.
