In short, if Question 3 is adopted, electricity monopolies would be prohibited by Nevada law, allowing energy customers the right to choose who their energy provider is, and generate their own energy for resale.

I would be hard pressed to choose between the Nevada Day Parade and the annual Taste of Downtown. Luckily, I can adore them both, and for much the same reason. They are a celebration of community, of Carson City, of our historic downtown and all that it has to offer. In addition to 'The Taste', the Brewery Arts Center goes country with the Southern Drawl Band on its outdoor stage, and Madam Curry leads another downtown Ghost Walk. Stick around for the Downtown Business Association Wine Walk at 1 p.m. The Rotary Club brings you the Capital City Brewfest at 3 p.m. Family friendly fun hits the outdoor stage at the Brewery Arts Center: Mumbo Gumbo will have you dancing in the street.

Nevada Cooperative Extension: Taking care of trees in drought years

They provide financial benefit for resale, aesthetic value, climate control, wildlife habitat, water and soil protection and air pollution mitigation. In a drought, trees have a few adaptive defense mechanisms that help to reduce water loss. However, over extended periods of drought, tree growth and appearance can suffer and trees may die.

Free public fire wood gathering at Wrights Lake Recreation Area
Submitted by editor on Mon, 10/20/2014 - 5:38pmPLACERVILLE, CA – The Wrights Lake Recreation Area on the Eldorado National Forest will be open to free public fire wood gathering Oct. 25-26, 2014 and Nov. 1-2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Portions of the recreation area will be open to the public for woodcutting on both weekends and woodcutters will be issued a free permit on site.
“The Forest Service is looking forward to a safe and successful wood cutting event. Please help us clean up this popular recreation area,” stated Richard Thornburgh, Pacific Ranger District Ranger.

Deborah Mae (Debbie) Humphrey, branch manager of the Zephyr Cove location, will also manage the new branch. Humphrey has more than 20 years of experience serving Carson Valley and is enthusiastic about expanding Guild's presence.

The permits allow cutting a pinyon pine or juniper tree on designated BLM lands primarily in the Pinenut Mountains between Carson City and Yerington, the Clan Alpine and Desatoya mountains east of Fallon, and the Excelsior Mountains southeast of Hawthorne. Maps and directions are available with permit purchase. The cost per permit is $5.
