Carson City Supervisors seek to fill Historic Commission, Cultural and Tourism Authority seats
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from residents interested in serving on the Historic Resources Commission. There's also one position open on the Carson City Cultural and Tourism Authority.
The Culture and Tourism Authority Board oversees all tourism matters within Carson City. Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 4 p.m. at the Community Center in the Sierra Room. Applicants must be willing to commit approximately six to eight hours a month.
There is one position open on the CTA for a two-year term for a person who can represent “other commercial interests.”
Applicants for this position must be able to represent “other commercial interests” in Carson City. For example, owners, operators, managers, or other representatives of business in Carson City may qualify. However, the applicant may not be a representative of hotel or motel operators.
All members will serve without compensation. The City’s Boards, Committees, and Commissions Policy and Procedures and the application can be viewed online at www.carson.org/volunteer. All applications submitted to this office will be considered public information.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint a qualified person to the Board. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at a regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on a Thursday, date TBD.
Historic Resources Commission
There are three (3) positions available each for a term that expires in February 2025. An applicant must qualify in any of the following categories for one appointment to be made by the Board of Supervisors in accordance with CCMC 18.06.025:
• A professional qualified architect or design professional with experience in historic preservation; or
• A professional in the field of Historic Preservation; or
• A professional in the discipline of archaeology, anthropology, history or related professions.
The Historic Resources Commission reviews and makes decisions regarding projects in the Carson City Historic District and/or recommendations to the Planning Commission and/or Board of Supervisors regarding matters relating to Carson City historic resources.
The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint the qualified persons to the Commission. Applicants must be Carson City residents and a professional in one of the categories listed above to qualify.
