Trash Mob to Clean Up Remnants of Waterfall Fire
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 09/26/2016 - 8:10pmThe Waterfall Fire of 2004 was one of the worst fires in recent history to devastate the Eastern Sierra foothills near Carson City. After it was all said and done, over 8,700 acres and 18 homes were destroyed. As a part of the recovery process plastic tree protectors were put in place to help the seedlings that were planted.

If your answer is yes then we invite you to come and play CASI bingo. CASI is an all volunteer non-profit dedicated to raising money to build and equip the new animal shelter in Carson City.
Doors open at 11:30 AM and the first game starts at 12:30 PM. Buy in is $10 and extra packs are $5. Special games are $1 each. We also have a 50/50 raffle and door prizes too. No need to worry about lunch we offer hot dogs at our snack bar and sometimes the wonderful volunteers will bring a yummy homemade soup.

The annual bonfire tonight is coupled with a Club Fair and Food for Thought food drive. Monday Night Football between the Falcons and the Saints can be found anywhere a TV is plugged in. Dayton Valley Days 2016 this weekend features festival of parades, music, food and more

The annual two-day festival is the largest event of the year and draws thousands of visitors and community members to the historic district. Dayton Valley Days helps raise funds for continued restoration of the historic schoolhouse–turned community center and local nonprofit organizations.
Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off

Every first Saturday over 30 shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. There will be rock climbing demonstrations, face painting, pirates, obstacle courses, a bubble station, music, a photo booth, ice cream, refreshments beginning at 11 a.m. and running until to 9 p.m.
Carson City Toyota helping WNC students succeed through scholarships

Carson Toyata General Manager Dana Whaley presented a $4,000 check to WNC President Chet Burton this week. The scholarships were created to help eight college students meet financial needs, as they work toward a degree from WNC.

Nevada Department of Corrections Officer Tony Cloke notes the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser has been carried between Peace officers and Special Olympians in Nevada for more than 30 years.
Nevada recycled art contest underway, submissions due Oct. 23

Entrants must be Nevada residents and projects must be composed of used recyclable materials. Submission of an entry form and photos of artwork are due by October 23, 2016.

Carson City Host Lions Club Golf Event at Silver Oak
Submitted by editor on Wed, 08/17/2016 - 7:49pmThe Carson City Host Lions Club held its inaugural Pitch, Putt and Sip recently at Silver Oak Golf Course. It was a successful event made possible by General Manager Terrie McNutt and PGA Pro Robert Mason along with their staff.
This golf event was a social event and not a competitive links style tournament. There were 44 people who participated in the creative golf tournament. There were three teams that won first, second and third place.
