Open Studio Pottery is for experienced students who have previously enrolled in at least one beginning pottery class and who want to use the studio for independent projects and skill development. An instructor is present to assist and answer questions, but no formal instruction or assignments will be given. Glazes and firing are included in tuition. Students must purchase their own clay in the studio.

Ceramic Sculpting

This fun and exciting class is designed for beginning as well as more experienced students. You will learn techniques in creating non-functional ceramics as you learn to use clay to build artistic sculptures. Projects will include instruction in a wide range of sculpting methods.
Students will need to bring a towel. The supply fee covers clay, glazes, firing, and everything else you will need to complete multiple projects.

Students will receive an introduction to clay from hand-building to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Additionally, instruction will include glazing and design. Intermediate students will receive instruction in more difficult wheel throwing techniques. A supply fee of $15 will be collected by instructor at the first class. Please bring towel &/or apron & wear closed toe shoes.

Business Spotlight: New pottery store in Carson City to teach love of clay

The Carson City couple learned to throw clay four years ago through a local studio, and now are ready to pass on what they've learned by opening their own pottery studio inside the Carson Mall.

Small Business Saturday: Carson City art galleries offer unique gifts

As the holiday season approaches, Charlie Blim, owner of Charlie B Gallery, advises going into local shops rather than big box stores.

“I’ve got stuff made by actual humans,” he said. “All that other stuff is made by machines.”

But when customers come into his shop, he’s not pushing to make a sale. He’s got a bigger goal in mind.
“Art changed my life,” he said. “If they take the time to learn the history, learn about the artist, it could change their lives too. It’s not just about buying stuff.”

Carson City Empty Bowls Project culminates with Dec. 2 fundraiser
