Sheriff's Office investigates windows shot out at downtown Carson City antique store

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating windows that were shot out early Tuesday morning at a downtown Carson City antique store.

The incident happened at just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Hanifin’s Arts and Antiques on the Curry Street entrance. The business is located at 210 North Carson Street. Two large plate glass windows were shot out. Dispatch received word of the vandalism at 1:33 a.m.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the shooting incident is under investigation and did not elaborate further.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding political candidates and their supporters that no political signs are allowed on state road right of way.

Evangelist holds rally at State Capitol in Carson City

Well-known Christian evangelist Franklin Graham held a rally Wednesday afternoon at the State Capitol amphitheatre in Carson City, encouraging people to live out their faith and get involved in the political process.

The event was part of Graham's Decision America Tour 2016, a national outreach effort of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to visit the state capitals of all 50 states this year, spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and encourage grass-roots involvement in the political process in communities across the country.

New Disclosure Forms, Created by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Required on All Mortgages Starting in October

Beginning Oct. 3, most mortgage transactions will be required to be completed on new disclosure forms created by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The new forms – the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure – have been designed to improve consumer understanding of the mortgage process sooner, assist consumers with comparison shopping, and prevent unexpected issues at the time of closing.

The 5th Annual Cancer Sucks 5k held last month and presented by The Sierra Nevada Association of REALTORS® and PrimeLending was a huge success! The event brought out over 320 walkers and runners, many adorned in the color pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The proceeds from the event totaled close to $8,000 and will benefit local cancer patients through The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation.

AB 312: An Abuse of Power

AB 312 which is now currently before the Senate Government Affairs Commission, and was submitted by Republican Assemblyman and former member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, Pete Livermore, strikes at the very heart of our democracy.

It is a despicable piece of legislation motivated more by vindictiveness on his part towards the citizens of Carson City, coupled in part by his ineffectiveness as a state legislator.
