Carson City’s Petsmart hosts ‘Clear the Shelter’ carnival fundraiser and adoption event Saturday

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday Carson City’s Petsmart next to Lowe’s is hosting a “Clear the Shelter” carnival-themed adoption and fundraiser event.

“It’s our first year joining the event,” said Petsmart Manager Rachel Garcia. “We have several different shelters here along with food, face painting, and more.”

Lost dog finds its way to Carson City Sheriff's Office

This friendly dog was found wandering late Thursday morning outside of the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Harbin and Musser streets. He is friendly, obedient, fairly young, may have some pit bull mix in him, with a brown and black coat, white chest and white feet.

Suspect in Carson City domestic battery faces multiple felony charges, $146K bail

Carson City Sheriff’s detectives, working closely with the Carson City District Attorney’s Office, filed an arrest report for Jordan Webber, the 22-year-old suspect in Tuesday's domestic battery at a Dori Way home.

Webber faces several felony charges after he allegedly beat a woman with a rock, released a pit bull on responding officers and then stabbed himself in the neck. The victim in the battery was treated for non life-threatening injuries and is doing better, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

He has been brought up on the following charges:

UPDATE 1:05PM: A 22-year-old Carson City man faces felony charges after he allegedly beat a pregnant woman with a rock, released a pit bull on responding officers and then stabbed himself in the neck. The victim in the battery was being treated for non life-threatening injuries, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The suspect, Jordan Webber, was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. He was to appear in Carson City court today on domestic battery charges, said Furlong. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday morning, 11:25 a.m. to a report of a violent domestic battery actively taking place at the 2300 block of Dori Way in northeast Carson City.

The hysterical reporting female informed dispatchers that a man was attacking a pregnant female with a knife. She believed the victim was being stabbed repeatedly and her throat had been “slit” in the back yard of the residence.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log for Thursday

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 8:36 a.m. in the 200 block of Hackamore Way on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area in reference to a possible structure fire. Officers were advised there had been suspicious activity in the home and that subjects with warrants for their arrests had been hiding inside.

Carson City man arrested on felony California parolee fugitive warrant

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested and faces a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice out of California.

Rex Kevin Warren Jr., was arrested Feb. 20, 7:26 p.m. in the 3000 block of Harrison Lane after being contacted by Carson City law enforcement regarding two outstanding warrants. When arrested it was confirmed that he was wanted for being a fugitive from justice, issued in October 2012 by the California Department of Corrections. The warrant was for Warren being a parolee absconder, according to the arrest report.

Carson City authorities arrest suspects on weapons, fraud and battery charges

A 71-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail on Sept. 24 on a warrant stemming from two charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Francis John Belongia, was arrested in the 4000 block of Stampede Drive without incident. Bail was set at $20,000.
In other felony-related arrests:
— A Dayton woman faces a felony charge of fraudulent use of a credit card or debit card without consent. Cynthia Marie Shelley, 31, was arrested Sept. 26. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. She was arrested following a felony warrant issued by the Carson City Justice Court. Bail was set at $7,500.

More details emerge about dog shooting

In a tragic incident on Friday, an officer was attacked by a dog while making an arrest, leading to shots being fired and the death of the dog.

Initially we reported the story based on the dispatch log. The official arrest report has more details about the incident.

According to the arrest report, at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, an officer conducted a routine traffic stop on a car containing Kevin Dean Parrish, 26, and Asya Rose Pedone, 30, both Carson City residents. Also in the car were two large dogs identified as being similar in appearance to a pit bull, and two children.

Breaking: Carson City deputy attacked by dog, shots fired

Just before 2:30 p.m. today, during a traffic stop near the intersection of Roop Street and Little Lane, an officer was attacked by a large dog described as looking similar to a pit bull. The officer sustained minor injuries to his right leg and was directed to obtain medical treatment. The dog was shot and killed.

The officer pulled over a vehicle driven by a female identified as Terra Smythe. The passenger in the car was identified as Kevin Parrish.

Mother arrested for leaving son alone in filthy home for 12 days

A Carson City woman was arrested Friday afternoon after deputies found her high-school-aged son had been left alone for 12 days in a home filled with trash and pet waste, but little food.

Kelly Pray, 34, was arrested for gross misdemeanor child neglect.

Deputies were alerted by school officials who were suspicious of the boy being absent from class. What they found at the home in the 3000 block of Sunrise Drive left them fighting for air to keep from vomiting.
