Embracing the area's manufacturing community, the Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, "Industrial Art: Sports Edition", at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery from June 9 – September 28, 2017. CCAI will host a reception for the show on Friday, June 9, 5-7pm including a short introduction of the exhibition participants at 5:30pm. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Sierra Music Society continues its fine Artists In Concert programs with “To Opera, with Love” on Saturday, May 20th at 5 pm. The concert will be at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church located at 3680 US Highway 395 South in Carson City, NV.

“To Opera, with Love” will feature the lovely soprano Irina Kasimova and baritone/tenor Chris Nelson accompanied by Bryan Chuan. The concert lasts about an hour and is a relaxing way to enjoy beautiful music in a beautiful setting. Admission is $15 General; $12 Seniors/Students/Military; and $10 Twelve and under.

ELKO, Nev. — The Nevada Division of Tourism recognized outstanding members of the state’s rural tourism industry at the VolunTourism Awards Dinner April 27 in Elko. The awards ceremony was a highlight of the state’s annual Rural Roundup conference.

Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. The train will depart the depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. arrive in Virginia City about 11:15 a.m. you will then be shuttled up to the opera house, lunch is from noon to 1 p.m. and the concert will start at 1:30 p.m., you will then be shuttled back to the train depot for the ride back to Carson City.
