Following the show, we have Northern Nevada funk band, Soul Kiss, performing at The Loft inside the Carson Nugget. The party starts at 9 p.m.

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Heading into Thursday, May 23, 2019 we ask: Can you feel it? Yes, the Memorial Day holiday is nearly here and we may even get a weather break or four in between expected showers through the weekend, forecasters say. Activities and events to round out this third Thursday of the month include a meet and greet of Carson City Library candidates at Adams Hub for Innovation, a day hike, a bicycle cruise on the west side of the capital city, a Lunch and Learn Workshop for local nonprofit organizations, a chamber luncheon focusing on mental health, a GOP meeting, art showings, live music and more. Here's what's happening:

It was a celebration unlike any other for family and friends of Western Nevada College’s Adult Literacy and Language program honorees on Thursday night at the Carson Nugget Hall on the Carson City campus.

The AL&L program honored an outstanding group of High School Equivalency recipients, National Adult Education Honor Society inductees and College and Career Transition students to salute the transformation in their lives through a return and embracing of education.

The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

You are invited by Carson City Republican Central Committee to hear from Michael Kadenacy, Chairman of Washoe County Republicans, to share their County vision for the upcoming years as we get ready for the 2020 election.

Our meeting will be held on May 23rd. Meeting in Angelina's Restaurant at the Carson Nugget Casino, 507 N Carson Street. Social hour and networking at 6:30pm, meeting starts at 7pm. Bring your questions to identify common interests and ways to collaborate with Washoe County.

The beasts of Africa will be highlighted during a wildlife photography presentation to the Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Wednesday, May 15. Presented by Patrick Pevey and Carol Grenier for the first time, club members will share in the experiences of seven trips to Africa.

For the Carson City Nugget Casino Hotel’s 65 year anniversary, they’re hosting a “Gold and Silver Giveaway” March 3 - May 4.

$65,000 and a Silver Rav-4 are up for grabs.

There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. The Carson City Republican Committee is holding the April General membership meeting on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Carson Nugget at 6:30 p.m. This is our annual elections meeting and we encourage any and all local residents to get involved with our politics to participate and make your voice heard.

Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. CARSON CITY — Casting call for extras and minor roles for the third episode of locally filmed sitcom "Casino Boss" will be held at Alatte inside the Carson Nugget Casino, 507 N. Carson St., Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m. Area residents and guests age 21 and over are encouraged to apply. No acting experience is necessary.

With a little help from the wind and a birds-eye view, we're flying into Friday, April 5, 2019 with plenty to do and see as we get ready for the weekend. National Weather Service forecasters say it will be a breezy day with some rain.
