In the tradition of TED, a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, comes TEDxCarsonCity, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Carson City is a Bee City USA as of October 2018. When I first saw the sign, I didn’t know what it meant.

It is fitting that the state capital should be the first and only (so far) Bee City in Nevada. The city is now the 76th Bee City in the USA.

Simpler form, more money for WNC Foundation scholarship applicants

Western Nevada College’s Foundation has made applying for scholarships even more enticing in 2019. Not only is more scholarship funding available, but the process of applying has been simplified, allowing students to easily apply for more than 250 scholarships with one, easy application.

After 5 years and more than 1500 cats and kittens saved, Catmandu is hosting their first ever big event on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Carson Nugget Casino, 507 Carson Street, Carson City! “Caturday Night Out,” a fun-filled night for animal lovers, will include dinner, music and dancing with live band One Way Street, door prizes, a raffle, and auction.

Doors open at 5 pm. A buffet dinner featuring both a vegetarian and meat option starts at 6 pm. Emcee Monty Wolf of KOH radio takes the stage after dinner for the raffle, prizes and auction or silent auction.

Due to verified reports involving the likelihood of stray bullets entering into populated areas originating from the discharge of firearms at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range, a temporary operating schedule was implemented along with the increased presence of Range Safety Officers made available by the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club, the city’s non-profit partner for the operation of the range.
