Carson City celebrates National Library Week with events

National Library Week will kick-off Sunday, April 12, 2 p.m., at the Carson City Library with a performance by “Primal Mates." This program has been described as “a delightful meeting of music and poetry ranging from Shakespeare to Kerouac.”

Capital City Reads: The Motel Life

Capital City Reads is Carson City Library’s annual city-wide book club. It is a program that brings people together through the reading and discussion of a common book.

This event runs in conjunction with National Library Week (April 12-April 18); an annual celebration sponsored by the Friends of the Carson City Library.

The Science of Speed: Why Driving Fast is Harder than You Think

Carson City Library will welcome Dr. Leslie-Pelecky, author of The Physics of NASCAR as special guest on Tuesday, April 15th, at 6:00 p.m.

This National Library Week highlight will take place in the Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 East William Street, at the Carson City Community Center. National Library Week highlights the value of libraries, librarians and library workers in our community and brings featured programs to your library.

Carson City Libary Celebrates National Library Week with impressive lineup

An action-packed week filled with music, arts, books, Nevada political history and more will be featured as Carson City Library celebrates National Library week.

Special events kick off Monday, 6 p.m., at the library auditorium with “The Lure of Music, a Human Universal” presented by internationally-recognized music scholar Fredric Lieberman, Ph.D., a distinguished professor of music at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Capital City Reads: A Thousand Splendid Suns

CARSON CITY, NEVADA-The Carson City Library would like to invite the entire community to participate in a citywide reading initiative to discuss the timely, and powerful message found in Khaled Hosseini’s best seller, A Thousand Splendid Suns.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Library are having a book sale to celebrate National Library Week. The sale will be at the Carson City Library. The sale will feature adult fiction and nonfiction, children's books, videos and a special donation of science fiction. The event runs Friday, April 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
