Monday, Sept. 12: Things to do in Carson City

Monday has returned, but it is bringing football with it. A double dose of grid-iron action is on the way. Karaoke has returned to the Firkin and Fox for those who don’t have a pigskin addiction. Poet Glade A. Myler will be at the Browser’s Corner Book Store for a meet and greet and book signing. Shake off the Monday blues with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their night out at El Charro Avita kicks off at 6pm.

Michael Saloga is the presenter at this month’s Soup’s On! luncheon sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and will discuss how to raise the bar in 2016. If you’d prefer to raise a glass, head to the Firkin and Fox for their Founder’s Brewery Tap Takeover and try a new beer. Humphrey Bogart plays Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon: catch this black and white classic on the big screen today at the Galaxy Theater.

You can meet Author Laura Lea White at the Browser’s Corner Book Shop tonight; copies of her book ‘Generational Gifts: The Legacy of Evelyn Marie’ will be available. Silver Dollar Cruise Night is at Dunkin' Donuts; every Thursday through summer you'll find hot rods, street racers, and cool old cars at a different location.

Local author Nancy Scott will be at the Browsers Corner Book Store on Thursday, April 9th at 6:30 pm. Ms. Scott is a retired teacher who is now writing children’s books and will highlight “Rabbit’s Desert Adventure”. Please bring your children to hear Rabbit’s story and meet the author.

Everyone is welcome to join us for this free event at the book store - 711 East Washington Street, just across the street from the Carson City Library. Light refreshments will be served.
