Thursday, March 19: Things to do in Carson City
On this day in 1931 our state legalized gambling; what laws will they be making today? You can always head over to the Legislature building to sit in on a committee meeting or an Assembly session, eat in the café, or track down your representative to voice your opinion. But there is quite a bit more available in those halls.
Today, check out the display on Special Olympics in the front foyer; their big fundraiser, the Polar Plunge, is coming up on Saturday. You can go here for more information. Head up to Room 3100 and learn about Chinese Calligraphy; it’s part of the SENarts series put on by the Nevada Arts Council. On your way, make sure to take in the gallery exhibit featuring artist Anthony Arevalo. The LXS Gallery changes every few weeks during session and showcases numerous Nevadan artists.
