Workshop for proposed South Shore Lake Tahoe Highway 50 realignment project set; public comment sought
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 6:45pmThe Tahoe Transportation District will host its second public workshop to discuss the US 50, Lake Tahoe South Shore Community Revitalization project, Wednesday, November 7, at Embassy Suites from 1-3 p.m.
The Lake Tahoe workshop will provide background on the project, outline goals and solicit input from individuals throughout the community. The open house format allows for members of the community to participant in the workshop anytime between workshop hours.

Detours will be signed. On Thursday, Oct. 18, Roop Street will also be closed between Northridge Drive and Hot Springs Road. Business access will be signed.

There will be traffic control on Roop Street between Hot Springs Road and Winnie Lane and also on Northridge Drive between Roop Street and New Ridge Drive due to the construction of bicycle and pedestrian
improvements. Minor delays are possible.

The westbound lane on Northridge Drive will be closed between Roop Street and New Ridge Drive. A detour will be provided for westbound traffic needing to access Roop Street. There will be traffic control on Roop Street from Hot Springs Road to Winnie Lane due to the construction of bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Minor delays are possible.
There will be a possible lane closures on Roop Street between John Street and Corbett Street due to utility work. Traffic control will be in place as needed.
Lake Tahoe Boat Inspections Move Back to Launch Ramps for Fall and Winter

Boat inspections and decontaminations will still be available at the Alpine, Spooner and Meyers stations until Sept. 30 2012.

There will be lane closures on Carson Street between 8th Street and Musser Street due to maintenance from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, Sept. 16, and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 20.

Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery Receives $5 Million Grant To Expand

Brian Sandoval today announced that the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery has received a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop approximately 7.5 acres at the cemetery. Construction will include over 6,000 replacement crypts and 4,000 columbarium niches.

- On September 10, 11, and 12 there will be lane closures in the northbound and southbound directions from 6:00 p.m. To 6:00 a.m. each day.
- On Thursday, September 13, Carson Street will be completely closed from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Detours will be marked.

There will be utility work in the shoulder of the eastbound lane of E. Fifth Street between Carson Street and Stewart Street during the daytime hours of Monday, August 20, through Friday, August 24. Westbound traffic on Fifth Street will be unable to turn left on to Stewart Street, but detours will be in place.

GCA dedicates a week each school year to serve agencies and organizations within the area. Local businesses, corporations as well as private donors pledge money donations to the school in the fundraising effort that has the added benefit of developing character within the students.
Lake Tahoe agency kicks off Fire Awareness Week with activities

“With the fifth anniversary of the Angora fire coming up, this is a good opportunity for our community to discuss the importance of wildfire awareness,” said Joanne Marchetta, Executive Director of TRPA.
Lake Tahoe Roadside Boat Inspection Stations Open at Five Locations

“Boat inspections are critical to maintaining the health of Lake Tahoe and our local recreation-based economy,” said Ted Thayer, TRPA’s Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator. “Through the efforts of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District’s well-trained inspectors and other private and public partners committed to the Lake, we expect to have another successful season.”

Two percent TOT funds Tahoe City project, future money slated for Kings Beach
Submitted by editor on Mon, 04/09/2012 - 1:59pmThe existing 2 percent Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), which is up for renewal on the June 5, 2012 ballot, has funded a number of North Lake Tahoe public improvement projects and services since voters first authorized it in 1996.
The renewal, called Measure F, is not a tax increase and, if passed, would continue to be paid by lodging guests only via the TOT bed tax when they spend the night in North Lake Tahoe. North Lake Tahoe residents would not be taxed under Measure F.

Beginning Tuesday, March 27, through Thursday, March 29, Edmonds Drive will be closed to through traffic between Clearview Drive and Bennett Avenue. Detours will be marked. In addition, there will be striping activity near the National Guard at the Fairview Drive and Edmonds Drive intersection on Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27. Minor delays are expected.
