The Reno Jazz Orchestra will present its “Creative Directions” concert on October 21, 2023, at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, Nevada. The two-hour performance starts at 7:30 p.m. and will showcase original compositions by contemporary composers, including current and former members of the Reno Jazz Orchestra.

Powerhouse New Orleans “Folk Rock Diva” and gospel artist, Lilli Lewis, performs a soul-stirring matinee at 2:30pm on Sunday, Nov. 13 following the weekly “Saints and Sinner’s Brunch” at Nashville Social Club in Carson City.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Western Nevada College will host a memorial exhibit and informational presentation on the 9-11 attacks on Friday. Partnership Carson City will team up for a statewide suicide prevention virtual walk this Saturday. The Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival is taking a new direction in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival was founded in 2004. This is the first year in which gathering of large crowds at musical events has been restricted due to health concerns.

Going into the second week of October, there's plenty of events around the capital city for this Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 including a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered. There's also art showings, the grand opening of Carson City's Postal Annex, family movie night at the Carson City Library featuring "Muppets from Space," as well as Big Band jazz music with a fall theme at Living the Good Life and more. King St., in Carson City. Beginning and advanced sessions are open to students from Carson City and surrounding areas in northern Nevada and California.

Mike Beck brings cowboy songs and the tradition of storytelling through music to Café at Adele’s Thursday, Aug. 22, as the Summer Concert Series on the Veranda continues.

A favorite performer on the Cowboy Poetry circuit, singer-songwriter, poet and working cowboy Beck is touring in support of his album “Tribute,” which showcases original horse songs written through the years, raising money for The Joyful Horse Project, a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas that pairs combat veterans with rescue horses being trained for rehabilitation.
