According to a Wells Fargo study conducted by The Harris Poll from Nov. 17-19 , a quarter (25%) of all seniors age 60 and above report feeling isolated and lonely, and over a third (43%) can go days without talking to others and spend most of their time alone.

Nevada begins borrowing to ensure uninterrupted payment of Unemployment Insurance benefits

Nevada adds jobs back in November; unemployment rate continues to improve

Jobs remain below typical levels; Nevada has 109,500 fewer jobs than in November 2019, for an annual job growth rate of -7.7 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s November 2020 economic report.

DETR: Most unemployment claim categories increase this week; Pandemic Unemployment Assistance initial claims increase significantly
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 12/12/2020 - 10:04amFor the week ending December 5, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,783, up 2,341 claims, or 36.3 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 6,442 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). This is only the second increase in regular initial claims activity since October 24. Through the week ending December 5, there have been a total of 783,384 initial claims filed in 2020, 761,732 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

Carson City woman arrested for pushing boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car on purpose
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Tue, 12/08/2020 - 12:05pmA 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 50 E. for suspicion of domestic battery after pushing her boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car, something she said he did on purpose because she was going to break up with him, according to a sheriff's office booking report. The boyfriend was also arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.
