Carson City, Nevada — The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Saludos Amigos", by artist Justin Favela at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. Favela will install his work with community assistance from September 30 – October 4. CCAI will host an opening reception on Friday, October 4, 5-7pm; the artist will give a brief talk about his work at 5:30pm. The exhibition will be in the gallery from October 4, 2019 – January 29, 2020.

Douglas County Businesses Receive 2019 Spotlight Awards

Minden, NV - For the sixth consecutive year, several Douglas County businesses were recognized with a Spotlight Award. This year’s awards were given at the Critical Issues Conference held on Thursday, September 26, 2019. The Spotlight Awards recognized businesses in 7 different categories: Business and Professional Service, Entrepreneur, Manufacturing and Production, Restaurant, Retail, Sports and Recreation, and Tourism and Hospitality.

Forest Service seeks input for Winter Travel Management at Lake Tahoe

The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has released the Proposed Action for the Winter Recreation and Over Snow Vehicle Travel Management Project. The Proposed Action was developed based on Forest Service criteria and feedback received from stakeholders during the Forest Plan Revision process, open house meetings and winter recreation collaborative meetings that occurred between 2011 and 2016.

Nevada librarians catalog virtual reality content for worldwide access

CARSON CITY — Librarians from two states — joined by volunteers across the country — spent the day Thursday cataloging virtual reality en masse as part of the XRCatalog Hack-a-thon.

Nevada participants gathered at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records in Carson City to input the first virtual reality content into WorldCat OCLC, the world’s largest library catalog.
