Western Nevada College’s new manufacturing training hub in Silver Springs is delivering just what the local economy needs: technical education for rural high school students who are receiving the necessary training to enter a job-ready workforce.

The Brewery Arts Center is proud to feature works by Carson City beadweaving artist, Suzy Musil. Through her art, Suzy creates necklaces, brooches, bracelets, whimsies, all available at the Artisan Shop inside the Brewery Arts Center.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday that he will call the Legislature into Special Session beginning Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. to take on the potential for a stadium in Las Vegas for the Raiders football franchise.
The proclamation detailing the agenda will be released on Sunday. Sandoval issued the following statement:

Finally. A bipartisan all out political campaign is launched against the pot industry written and financed Question 2 to legalize commercial marijuana in Nevada.

Strong statements of opposition to Q2 were made by Governor Brian Sandoval, Lt. Governor Mark Hutchison, Attorney General Adam Laxalt, Senator Dean Heller and 3 members of Nevada's House delegation.

The Carson City Off-Road was named the best mountain bike race in the nation during the Interbike International Bicycle Exposition on Thursday evening in Las Vegas.

“This is great news for us,” said Joel Dunn, executive director of the Carson City Visitors Bureau, from the event.

The American Buffalo did not roam in Northern Nevada more than a century ago as the West was settled, but Nevada does lay claim to its own Silver Buffalo in 2016. After a collision on Toll Road in south Reno, Nevada Department of Agriculture officials urge motorists to use extreme caution when driving in the Virginia Range area. The collision took place late on Tuesday night and involved two vehicles and three feral horses. The motorists sustained no injuries, but the accident resulted in two dead horses.
