This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

SATURDAY:  

Not a cloud in the sky, and yet we have been hit by a perfect storm: Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby Day, and the monthly wine walk have all collided. Let me tell you, downtown is going to be hopping, not to mention the Early Season Farmers Market making its seasonal debut in the parking lot at W. Musser and N. Nevada – just behind Due Sorella. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.

It’s hard to believe that it’s winter with these balmy temperatures. Take advantage of this beautiful day at the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk; grab a friend, a light jacket, and enjoy. See what the Wild Horse Children’s Theater’s elite performance troupe will be showcasing at an upcoming competition during a special presentation at the Carson Mall. If your bookshelves are looking a little bare, head to Dog Eared Books on Fairview where their fill-a-bag parking lot sale will have your reading list well supplied. Read on for a weekend full of happenings.

SATURDAY:

After back to back three-day weekends, this one may feel a little short. Grab onto the hours allotted and have a good time. The monthly downtown wine walk is a great way to catch up with friends after the bustle of the holiday season. The annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series offers the Winter Round-up 5 or 10K. If staying active is a resolution, then a brisk run in our hills fits the bill. For something less strenuous, you can join our Parks and Recreation Department for a Winter Wonderland Walk along the Carson River.

Customers can sip on a drink, or enjoy lunch while local musicians create a relaxing, yet productive ambiance. Often completely acoustic, customers find the music lifts the mood and adds productivity for those typing away on laptops.

The Carson City Leisure Hour Club members will celebrate the holidays at their dinner meeting on Wednesday, December 20 with local entertainer, Hallie Kirk.

The rumors of Santa Claus coming to town are true. The jolly old man is making several appearances today, and is feeling photogenic. Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Welcome to the weekend, Carson City. Now that we are in November, thoughts turn to the holiday season. That means craft fairs. St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. There’s quite a bit more, and plenty that doesn’t involve shopping, so take a look and have a great time.

Some weekends are pretty cut and dry, just a few things to choose among. This, however, is not one of those weekends. High-flying, death-defying action takes over the Minden Airport as the Aviation Roundup Air Show takes to the skies. Pasta-lovers won’t want to miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno. Carson City’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk gets a dose of nostalgia as the Western Airstream Convention sets up shop and welcomes the curious.

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. It’s wine walk weekend, so downtown will be hopping with sippers, strollers, and plenty of summer fun. Keep reading, and you’re sure to find something to make this weekend special.

Summer? Winter? Flip a coin. I could’ve guessed the rain was coming, my lilacs just started to bloom. Don’t let your parade get rained out though, downtown Carson will march right through this wet stuff. The early Spring Farmers Market debuts today behind Due Sorella at Nevada and Musser Streets. Grab the kids and enjoy today’s open house with free admission at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. Stick around for the monthly Downtown Business Association wine walk and find something for Mothers’ Day at one of our wonderful local shops.

It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production. There’s too much to mention in this short opening paragraph, so keep reading for all the great things our valley and sister valleys have to offer.

This time next month our downtown will be in full bloom, but there’s plenty of cheer no matter what the season. The monthly Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk marches right along: rain or shine, wind or snow (or a combination of them all.) Grab your friends, a coat, and see what kind of fun blows your way.

What a great start to March. A few days on sunshine under our belt and now it’s wine walk weekend. With fingers crossed, the weather should hold out until it’s over, but be prepared for some wind. The Shrine Circus is in Reno, Girl Scout Cookies are on sale, and we inch closer to the longer days and shorter nights of Spring. How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice. The wine walk is a rain, snow, or shine event, so bring an umbrella. Time for another wine walk, Carson City, thanks to the Downtown Business Association. Every first Saturday over 30 shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. It's always a great reason to explore downtown. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 and you have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins.

There are multiple ways to say farewell to summer this weekend. The Best in the West Rib Cook-off is a local favorite, as is the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival. It has finally cooled down a little, so the Downtown Carson Wine Walk is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Keep reading and have a great time.

Holy moly. Carson City is hopping with fun times for everyone. Mills Park features the return of the RSVP Carnival with rides, food, booths, games, and more.

Last weekend the cyclists ruled our city, but now the hot-rodders are king of the road. The Rockabilly Riot is jam-packed with activities all over town: the races and booths at Mills Park; a street dance at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar; a tattoo show in the Community Center; a free concert at Gold Dust West; and Burlesque at the Nugget. Start the day at the opening Spring Farmers Market right behind Due Sorella, then stick around to sign yourself, your Mother, your friends, family and neighbors up for the Kentucky Derby/Mother’s Day Weekend Wine Walk.

After that cold snap earlier this week, it’s time to go enjoy the sunshine. Spend the afternoon cheering on the WNC Wildcats as they take on Salt Lake Community College. You’ll find the softball double-header at Livermore Sports Complex off Edmonds; baseball is played at the Harvey Field at Western Nevada College.
