Gov. Steve Sisolak says that he has ordered Nevada’s unemployment insurance agency to pay out claims retroactively — to as early as March 15 — as claimants struggle to get through in a system overwhelmed by unprecedented job losses.

This year because of the outbreak of Covid-19, the California Fish and Game Commission has proposed a new regulation that may temporarily suspend or delay the opener to protect public health.

Gov. Steve Sisolak on Thursday joined the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in announcing the selection of a vendor to provide at least 100 full-time operators to boost unemployment insurance call center capacity during a period of unprecedented demand.

Gov. Steve Sisolak is asking state agencies to identify “potential areas for reductions” in their budgets — with up to $687 million in possible cuts over the next two years — as the state deals with an expected financial crunch created by the coronavirus crisis.

An update was given to the Carson City Board of Supervisors regarding emergency operations being provided by Carson City Health and Human Services as well as the quad county Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

During the discussions, Tom Raw, Deputy Emergency Manager for the EOC, said they do not want to publicly disclose the amount of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) the city has. Carson City Health and Human Services Director Nicki Aaker also said they have stopped putting in orders for PPE since orders were not fulfilled in the past.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Nearly 100 Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will join the National Guard's COVID-19 response effort this week and join the other 17,000 Guardsmen across the nation already on duty battling the coronavirus, said Gov. Steve Sisolak on Wednesday.

In response to Nevada Gov. Sisolak’s announcement this morning to extend the “Stay at Home” directive through April 30, the Carson City School District will continue with Remote Learning for teachers and students through the remainder of the month.

CARSON CITY — On Tuesday, Gov. Sisolak submitted a formal request to President Donald Trump for a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Nevada. If approved, this declaration will provide additional federal assistance and emergency protective measures available under the nationwide emergency proclamation.

MINDEN, Nev. — Effective immediately the Douglas County Sheriff’s Offices,( Records and Administration) located at 1038 Buckeye Rd, Minden and 175 Hwy 50, Stateline will be closed to the public for 30 days.

LYON COUNTY — Effective Wednesday at 5 p.m. the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and area substations (records and administration services) will be closed to the public for 30 days.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has extended all of the state’s emergency actions to mitigate spread of COVID-19 — including closure of public and private schools, a nonessential business shutdown and ban on large gatherings — until the end of April, while urging state residents to shelter in place.

The governor’s updated order, released by his office Wednesday morning, is the latest signal by state authorities that the massive disruptions to normal public life needed to combat the spread of the virus are nowhere near over yet.

Steve Sisolak has announced a moratorium on evictions for both residential and commercial tenants for the duration of the state of emergency, providing relief for renters who, in many cases, are facing the first of the month without a job and are under orders to try to stay at home for their own health.

Lyon County Republican Central Committee announces that the regularly scheduled County Convention has been postponed and the monthly meetings of the Lyon County Central Committee have been cancelled until further notice following the recommendations of the state of emergency declared by President Trump, Governor Sisolak of Nevada and the Lyon County Board of Commissioners.

While many of Carson City’s local businesses were mandated to shut down to help the rapid spread of COVID-19, some businesses were deemed to be essential under Governor Sisolak’s order; however, even those essential businesses have changed the way they do business to try and alleviate stresses on the health care system.
