CARSON CITY — Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Monday the approval of a comprehensive community-based testing, laboratory analysis, and contact tracing plan to support local, statewide, and tribal efforts to reopen and keep open the Nevada economy.

In response to Governor Sisolak’s announcement of our entering Phase Two of COVID- 19 Recovery, Douglas County Community Services is pleased to announce the reopening of Topaz Lake Campground effective June 1, 2020.

While Phase 2 is allowing for more businesses to open, the language of the mandate is leaving some businesses confused, while others have already begun planning their reopening this weekend.

Even with the Phase 2 opening set to begin Friday, the Carson City Wine Walk will hold off on their monthly event until at least July.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced his COVID-19 swab test came back negative. The governor was tested Tuesday evening and learned of his results Wednesday.

Nevada will move into Phase 2 of its reopening plan on Friday amid downward trends in COVID-19 positivity test rates and hospitalizations — a transition that will allow additional venues including churches, gyms and bars to reopen.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak canceled a planned press conference. He will instead address Nevadans in a videotaped message. In a news release from the Governor's Office it noted that late last week Gov. Sisolak had visited a work place where an employee — who was not in the building at the time — has since reported testing positive for COVID-19. The Governor’s Office learned of the positive test result on Tuesday.

Nevada’s casinos could welcome back customers as soon as June 4, Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Friday afternoon.

Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe is reopening over the Memorial Day weekend and having a four-day locals-emphasis celebration after being closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event has been scaled back from previous years as city and state officials grapple with phase 2 reopening, which allows second-home property owners living outside the area to return to the California side of South Lake Tahoe, but not allowing for non-essential travel and visitors.

About 150 demonstrators returned Saturday to the Governor's Mansion in Carson City to protest his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

CARSON CITY — Dr. Antonina Capurro, Nevada State Dental Health Officer, recently released a multifaceted and comprehensive plan to resume non-emergency dental procedures which has been approved by the Governors’ Medical Advisory Team and adopted as regulation by the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners.

Nevadans have only a few days remaining to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan through Nevada Health Link, the online health insurance marketplace operated by the state agency, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.

CARSON CITY — Gov. Steve Sisolak declared a state of fiscal emergency on Monday arising from the strain the COVID-19 pandemic has put on public services in the State of Nevada.

CARSON CITY — Governor Steve Sisolak signed an emergency directive on Monday to provide flexibility for the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to hire non-merit, or contracted, staff to help process unemployment insurance claims.

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, along with many other government agencies, will remain closed under the Phase I reopening announced by Governor Sisolak on May 7.

The Governor issued the Guidelines and Protocols for Individuals and Businesses and Emergency Directive 18 Phase One Reopening Plan.

Based upon these directives Lyon County will implement the following by no later than 5:00 PM May 11, 2020.

Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of elders and all community members, today the Nevada Indian Commission announced the postponement of the grand opening of the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum.

Gov. Steve Sisolak says the state will enter “Phase 1” of business reopenings on Saturday, but that establishments allowed to open their doors will be subject to strict capacity requirements that could be even more stringent if leaders in counties want them to be.

On Tuesday, the Nevada Division of Division of Industrial Relations, as part of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, issued the following news release regarding the governor's directive for businesses as they prepare to open as part of the state's Roadmap to Recovery plan.

The #LocalFoodLove challenge, a campaign sponsored by locally-owned construction company Q&D Construction, is recognizing a successful effort to support a variety of local restaurants across northern Nevada during the coronavirus pandemic.

Is this pandemic over with yet? Nope! Not to beat a dead horse, but what is everyone doing with all this time off? For some, time off would be a fantastic development in their busy lives, and for others, time off would be an awful development because they are not able to pay their bills if they cannot go to work.

A group of protesters, some dressed in military fatigues and open-carrying guns, gathered outside the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday to call on Gov. Steve Sisolak to open all businesses.

Lyon County officials have reviewed the Nevada United Roadmap to Recovery plan as introduced by the Governor on April 30, 2020. The Governor’s Office provided Lyon County with a questionnaire to determine the County’s ability to enter Phase 1 of the plan.

In response to Governor Sisolak’s Directive 016, relaxing restrictions on some outdoor recreation activities is allowed starting today, if participants recreate safely and in a manner that prevents the spread of COVID-19.
