There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

“We see 80 percent of our clients in the last couple of weeks of the month,” explained Joyce Buckingham, executive director. “They have reached the end of their SNAP benefits or their social security or other benefits.”

I did not plant these; the birds did. The seeds spread in the wind or I accidentally spread seeds when deadheading.

Carson City Chamber of Commerce names Lisa Lee as Chairman of the Board

Kris Wells of AT&T moves from the board to the Executive Committee to take over as secretary/treasurer. All others move up one notch.
Earthquake Update: Epicenter located closer to Carson City near Washoe Lake
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 06/07/2019 - 9:25amThe Earthquake which shook our region just before 10 p.m. Thursday night has now been updated, with the epicenter thought to be near Washoe Lake, just past the Carson "county" lines.
Originally, the epicenter of the 3.7 magnitude quake was thought to have been located in South Reno near Arrowcreek Golf Course, 12 km from Carson City.

Reports of experiencing the quake are coming in from Reno to Dayton and Carson.
The epicenter appears to be located in mountains just above Arrowcreek Golf Course.

The Greenhouse Project welcomes them as they play the 11th annual Concert Under the Stars on July 10 at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City, for a hit-driven evening that also includes bands Poco and Firefall.

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

CHS Dean Sharon Hallinan sent an email out to all CHS teachers about this weather changing challenge. Hallinan told teachers to “please remind students of the Dress Code; highlight the fact that bare midriffs and holey jeans, which violate the ‘Fingertip Rule’, are not allowed.”
Carson City-based Ageless Aviation expands fleet of Stearmans to honor military veterans

Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Meet at the Highway 50 Park and Ride where we will carpool or caravan to the starting point off of Golf Course Road. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended.
Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more.
