Chris Giunchigliani endorses Patricia Ackerman for NV-02
Carson City, NV (May 4, 2020) - In a selfie video released yesterday, Chris Giunchigliani formally endorsed Patricia Ackerman for Nevada Congressional District 2. “Chris G.”, as she is known in Nevada Democratic circles, has been active in Nevada politics since she was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 1991. In 2006, Giunchigliani was elected to the Clark County Commission. She was also president at different points of the Clark County Education Association and Nevada State Education Association.
“It is with immense gratitude that we welcome Chris Giunchigliani as an endorser to our campaign,” said Patricia Ackerman. “I have looked up to Chris for some time, and am incredibly honored.”
As to why Giunchigliani endorsed Ackerman in a field of seven Democrats, Giunchigliani stated: “I want a representative who has common sense and compassion. That’s Trish.” In her video, she also explained: “I made the decision, after looking at all the candidates, and knowing all of them, that Trish Ackerman is the best choice for Congress. She has compassion, and common sense, and in this day and age with all of this going on, that’s exactly what we need in Washington.”
The endorsement of Patricia Ackerman by Chris Giunchigliani is in addition to the following: National Women’s Political Caucus; Six PAC; National Organization for Women PAC; West Wendover City Council Member Kathy Durham; Nevada State Democratic Party Central Committee Member Larry Jackson; Sparks City Council Candidate Elvira Diaz; Jessica Padrón, Founder, Padrón Strategies & Solutions; and Author & Attorney Dave Simon.
Patricia Ackerman is the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants who arrived in this country fleeing the destruction of World War II. Patricia’s mother was forced slave labor for Nazi Germany, while her father almost starved to death in a concentration camp. At the age of 15, Patricia left a home plagued by domestic violence. With a GED in hand, Patricia started her own successful small business as an interior landscape designer at the age of 21. Patricia would go on to become an award-winning stage actress, a member of the Long Beach Mounted Police, an FBI independent contractor, and an accomplished high-altitude mountaineer. Patricia’s greatest driving force in her run for public office is her mother. From 2007-2013, Patricia acted as her mother’s primary caregiver. Toward the end of her mother's life, Patricia could not find a local doctor who would take medicare in a timely fashion. Having to wait weeks, her mother passed away the day before her appointment. Patricia Ackerman wants to lead the charge in producing a healthcare system that is affordable and accessible to Northern Nevada.
