Carson City road report for the week of July 18-24
Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/18/2011 - 9:50amThe Nevada Department of Transportation will begin a project to mill and overlay a section of US 395 from the junction with US 50 (Spooner) in Carson City to south of Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.
The following activities are expected as a result of the project, with nightly lane closures occurring from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Gardnerville man identified in fatal motorcycle accident
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 07/15/2011 - 4:14amA Gardnerville man has been identified in the fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday morning on State Route 88 at Centerville Lane in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
Craig William Ducar, 42, died from injuries sustained from a collision with another vehicle.
Motorcyclist dies in Douglas County accident
Submitted by editor on Wed, 07/13/2011 - 1:51pmA 42-year-old motorcyclist died this morning in an accident on State Route 88 at Centerville Lane in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
A preliminary crash investigation done indicates that a Red Hummer, driven by a 51-year-old Gardnerville resident, was traveling westbound on Centerville Lane from the stop sign and failed to yield striking a Honda motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was diverted while emergency crews investigated the accident.
The name of the victim hasn't been released pending notification of relatives.

NHP: One dead in Highway 395 accident in Douglas County
Submitted by editor on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 4:27pmOne person died in an accident today three miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
An early investigation into the accident shows that the driver of a 2004 Ford F-150 was pulling a camper trailer and traveling in the southbound lane of Highway 395. For reasons that remain unclear the Ford, occupied by a 73-year-old male from California, drifted into the northbound travel lane and hit a commercial vehicle driven by a Wisconsin resident, said NHP Trooper Daniel Lopez.

Final reminder of Nevada’s 2011 Free Fishing Day

On that day, you can fish anywhere you want, and you will not need to have a Nevada fishing license or a Nevada Trout Stamp or a Nevada Second Rod Stamp. However, you will need to abide by whatever the rules and regulations are for whatever water(s) you will fish on that special day.
If you would like to fish on June 11, be advised that the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) will have planted many thousands of rainbow trout in our Western Nevada waters.

Gardnerville man identified in Foothill Road accident
Submitted by editor on Tue, 04/26/2011 - 8:56pmUPDATED: A 56-year-old Gardnerville man has been identified as the victim of an accident Tuesday night on Foothill Road in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
Dan Steven Navone died at the scene of the single-vehicle accident, reported at 8:33 p.m. Navone was driving a 1997 Chevy Tahoe in the eastbound lane and apparently overcorrected. The overcorrection caused the him to vault over a barb wire fence, said NHP Trooper Dan Lopez.
