Brian Sandoval presides over a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at 9 a.m., and even more is in store at the Legislature, including a BBQ. It’s also Nevada Moves Day, which means you’ll see a lot of school age walkers and bicyclists on the sidewalks. Reward your family with a movie at the Library tonight: The BFG is fun for all ages. Learn more about our little lake to the north with a presentation at the Washoe Lake State Park Ranger Office.

Adjusting to Daylight Savings Time is always a little rough, and this Monday gets going one hour earlier than usual. The Father-Daughter Dance at Carson High is on March 31, but don’t wait until the last moment for tickets. Grab them in the High School Office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Grab some friends and head to Carson Cigar Co. for Game Night: Cards Against Humanities, Apples to Apples, and Jenga are just a few of the offerings – it changes every week.

Welcome to the wrestlers and swimmers who are in town for their respective tournaments: you’ll find other fun things on this list to occupy your downtime. It’s a St. Patty’s celebration in Virginia City this weekend with the parade, Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest, and Ball Buster Saloon Crawl. Bragging rights are on the line at the Sixth Annual Thirsty Boy Homebrew Competition sponsored by Just Brew It. You’ll get a sneak peek at the soon-to-open Shoe Tree Brewery if you attend the award ceremony.

Kids are welcome to make a free craft or decorate a St. Patrick’s Day Cookie at Genoa Candy and Coffee. Go on an ‘American Road Trip’ at the Plaza Hotel as part of their Mike Thompson Lecture Series. You can swing dance the night away at El Charro’s, sing the workweek blues at the Fox Brewpub’s karaoke night, or help Sassafras welcome guitarist Ian Moore to the stage.

The Carson City Photography Club is welcoming new members: every month you’ll find a different assignment. Those in the nursing field will want to attend the RN Job Fair at Carson Tahoe Hospital for new opportunities.

That fascination, along with his deep interest in modern astronomy, are at the heart of Tsouras’ photography and mixed media exhibit that goes on display at the Nevada Arts Council’s LXS Gallery beginning Monday, Feb. 27.
