The song and Story of "The Dogs Who Saved Christmas Day" by Dan Slater is now available to download with $1 of every download going to the Nevada Humane Society.

Carson City Elks No. 2177 held a fundraiser for the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club. This dinner event, spearheaded by Jim Masterson, was held on Jan. 17 at the Lodge in Carson City. Many Elks volunteered for this sucessful event. $4,200 was raised to help the club youths with their travel expenses and equipment.

Wreaths created by parents and supporters of Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City will be available beginning Monday through Friday, Dec. 13, 2019. Tickets are available in the school office. They are $1 each or 25 for $20.

World renown Violinist Jaime Jorge, will be giving a concert to benefit a local food pantry. Jaime has traveled over 6 million air miles and has played on 6 continents and in over 80 countries. He has recorded and released 17 albums.

The Douglas High School Interact Club is bringing the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival to the Carson Valley on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

The festival will screen at the CVIC at 1604 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden with doors opening at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. showing. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase and a raffle will be held.

The Tahoe Adventure Film Festival is a fast-paced, high-energy evening of highlights from the best adventure sports films of the year.

CASI would like to invite everyone to the year's best pooch pool party! Please join us on Sept. 22 for our annual Pooch Plunge to help support Critter Fixer, CASI's low cost spay/neuter voucher program.

9-10am is for little dogs and our three legged friends who need a calmer crowd. 10am-3pm the pool is open to all sizes of furry friends. Ramps, tennis balls, frisbees and towels will be ready!

Please join Dog Town for a very special day at Adele's in downtown Carson City on Saturday, July 22! We will be there from 10:30 - 2:00, and again from 5:00 - 7:30 for a fund raiser, with 25% of the proceeds from meals purchased being donated to Dog Town.

Northern Sierra Ladies Gun Club was one of the recipients of the Certificate of Appreciation, at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, July 6, 2017. The certificates were presented on behalf of Carson City, the Board of Supervisors, and the Parks, Recreations and Open Space Department by Jennifer Budge, Parks and Recreations Director and Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra will present an eclectic array of music and announce the 2017 Scholarship winners at their Annual Spring Concert on April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley CIVC Hall.

As of Saturday, I am retiring as the Outdoor Editor for Carson Now and a very special outdoor photographer (my wife Elaine) will also be retiring.
It's been a great run, full of great memories, but sooner or later all good things must come to an end, and Oct. 31 is that special time for the two of us.

If you are one of the gun owners in northern Nevada that uses the Carson City Gun Range listen up.
Several of the gun clubs that use the Carson City Gun Range have come together to planned a fun filled fundraiser on Oct. 3, 2015.

The day is dedicated to raising funds for future improvements at the gun range. Planned events include; NRA 100-Yard High Power Rifle Match, 200-Yard Target Rifle Match, IDPA shoot, a Three Gun Match, Bragging Rights Challenges, and two 50/50 Poker shoots (one blind for the less experienced shooters).

Jimmie Ray’s Black Train – A Tribute to Johnny and June, Trains, America and some friends – A Musical Journey Back in Time – The Man, The Music, The Memories - Is coming to the Piper’s Opera House for the third year; this time as part of a fund raiser for the Kiwanis Club. Theater.

This show is designed to more than a concert but an experience. In 2003 the world has lost both American roots legends, Johnny Cash and the beloved June Carter Cash.

The Dayton Township Kiwanis (DTK) will be holding their annual Casino Night on March 7 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street in Old Town Dayton.

This is my annual reminder of my all-time favorite fund raiser. The highly-popular and fun-filled Carson Valley Chukar Club fundraiser will be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 7. This year’s fund raiser will be its 29th version.

Chukar:
If you are brand-new to this area, about now you are probably wondering what in the world is something called a "Chukar?" Well, Chukar is Nevada's most popular upland game bird, bar none. If you don’t believe so, just ask any serious bird hunter.

The Carson City Historical Society is presenting a "Sunday Afternoon Tea" on February 8 from 1 to 3 p.m at the Foreman-Roberts House, 1207 N. Carson Street. Chef Mauricio will have an all new menu. The tea is a fund raiser for the completion of the interior of the carriage house located behind the Foreman-Roberts House. Reservations can be made by calling D.D. Spencer at (775)741-7897 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $30. Celebrate Valentine's Day, treat a relative or friend or yourself!

The deadline to submit applications for Official and Signature Nevada 150 events will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. Over 400 events have been held across the Silver State since Nevada Day 2013, in celebration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, with many more ahead. I hope everyone’s Bike to Work Week is going well. You really couldn’t ask for better weather here in Carson City for encouraging people to get out on their bikes. Last night we had 94 adults and 29 children signed in for our Westside Cruiser ride, and the miles and trips are really starting to rack up for the Bicycle Commuter Corporate Challenge. To say thank you for all your hard work, we’re going to throw you a street party!

Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery LLC as we celebrate our 3rd year in business with a fundraiser for The American Cancer Society for prostate cancer research.

More than 50 northern Nevada artists will take part in this one-of-a-kind chair show, entitled "Sit On This."

A portion of all chair sales will go directly to The American Cancer Society. A raffle table will be available with all proceeds to benefit prostate cancer research. Carson City Confections will be on hand with their amazing cupcakes. Many surprises throughout the day.
