The highly-popular and fun-filled, Carson Valley Chukar Club fundraiser will be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 1. This year’s fund raiser will be its 28th version.

Outdoors with Don Q: Two fishing derbies in the region
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 05/31/2013 - 7:26amIf you are a serious fisherman and are interested in winning some money, be advised that there are not one, but two fishing derbies coming up in the very near future in this area.
One of the derbies is the Lake Davis (California) Spring Fishing Derby which will be held on Saturday, June 15.
The other one is a "Wide Open" Derby which will be held at Topaz Lake on Saturday-Sunday, June 15-16.

Local wine expert, Mike Hautekeet, will open the movie with some informative words about wine.

Teams now forming for Carson City’s Relay For Life
Submitted by admin on Tue, 04/26/2011 - 9:01amCarson City area walkers will go around the clock in the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
This celebration brings together numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back.
Teams of enthusiastic residents will gather at Centennial Field for an overnight relay from 10am July 16th to 10am July 17th. The event celebrates anyone who has battled cancer and their caregivers and also remembers loved ones lost.

Donations sought for Tahoe chapter of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 03/16/2011 - 5:41amThe 13th Annual Big Game Banquet of the Tahoe Basin Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be held in Carson City at the Casino Fandango April 30.
Those active in the foundation are asked to help with donations and underwriting of the event. Donation entries for the Program placement with proper credited entry prior to the program printing are needed by March 20th. Any help you can give the foundation will be greatly appreciated!

Kids Fishing Day at Carson City’s New Urban Fishing Pond
Submitted by editor on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 9:57amCarson City's newest recreation feature will be dedicated on Oct. 23, along with a Fishing Day, highlighting the opening of the one-acre Urban Fishing Pond.
The event, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon at the Carson City Fairgrounds at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, is free to the public. Sponsors include the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Carson City Host Lions Club, and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.

Minden's local charter school is having a Peddler's Faire for their fund raiser this year. There will be a huge rummage sale and a chili cook-off as well as vender's selling their wears! The kid's will be doing fencing and archery demonstrations through out the day and there will be live music by Tuck Williams and Michelle Supelana-Mix.
