Volunteer and Tour Guide Training Celebrates Nevada’s Heritage at the Nevada State Museum

September 25, 2023 - 9:00am As the Nevada State Museum prepares to celebrate another year sharing Nevada’s unique history, the Friends of the Museum are again offering an opportunity for new and experienced volunteers and tour guides to learn more about our region, history, and the State Museum.

During the Friends of the Nevada State Museum recent Silver State Speakeasy fundraising event, the raffle of an uncirculated 1884 Morgan silver dollar resulted in the coin traveling across the United States.

September 22, 2022 - 4:00pm An uncirculated 1884 Carson City Morgan silver dollar will highlight a raffle during the Friends of the Nevada State Museum fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 22. The coin, donated by Northern Nevada Coin, will be raffled off during the Silver State Speakeasy event in the Nevada Room of the Governor’s Mansion.
1920’s Speakeasy Opens in Carson City for One Night Only

September 22, 2022 - 4:00pm The Friends of the Nevada State Museum will open a one night only speakeasy as their annual fundraiser on Thursday, September 22. The speakeasy opens at 4 pm in the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion.
The theme is the 1920's and will feature suffragists, flappers, and gangsters.

October 10, 2017 - 9:00am Due to the positive response from local residents and visitors to the Carson City area, local history buff Debbie Lane will be leading another tour highlighting the homes of former Nevada governors on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The 9 a.m. tours are offered as part of the activities sponsored by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 24 2016, 2-5 P.M. to attend the fourth Oh, My Bonnets and Bustles! Fashion Show held at the Governor’s Mansion grounds in Carson City. Tickets are $25 and are available now at the Nevada State Museum store. Only 100 tickets will be sold in order to maximize the experience for attendees, so make sure to get yours soon! Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the NSM.
