There is no need to get a second rod stamp or purchase a trout stamp when purchasing your 2018 fishing license.

Last week camping with the Ness family, we hit a whopping low of 24 degrees one night. That is hardcore camping when you are in a tent. This year our venue is again returning to Davis Creek Regional Park in Washoe County, NV. because this event coincides with Nevada's Free Fishing Day, no licenses will be needed. The group will meet at the Lakeview group picnic area.

Carson City Raiders Booster Club hosts Inaugural Fishing Derby at Topaz Lake

Sign ups are from 6-8 a.m. behind the lodge. Entry fee is $10 per person; up to three lines in the water. Each entrant must have a valid/current fishing license. No exceptions. All fishing rules/laws must be followed.

The lake has been closed to fishing since September 30, but it will be open for fishing again on Jan. 1 in one of Nevada's more unique ways to celebrate New Year's Day.

Although many areas in our local area have closed for the season, we still have plenty of options to keep on fishing. The lakes in the higher altitudes have started to freeze and ice fishing will be upon us soon. I ask anglers to resist the urge to venture out on lakes and ponds until we have at least eight inches of solid ice.

Submitted by editor on Thu, 06/16/2016 - 11:34amHello fellow anglers. We have had two successful kids fishing derbys in our area. The Lampe Park Kids Derby had 1,300 children attend this year and last Saturday was the Alpine County Kids Fishing derby at Indian Creek.
My hat is off to all the volunteers that came together to make this such a successful and fun event. Now it is time for the kids to take dad fishing. Father's Day is this Sunday and what better way to give back than to take your dad fishing. These events are the reason that most kids get hooked on fishing.

Don’t be surprised to see more cyclists on the road: an unofficial pre-ride for Epic Rides is this weekend. Head to the Nevada State Railroad Museum to see the Glenbrook all steamed up.
