Western Nevada College, Citizens’ Climate Lobby and Nevada Green Institute are joining forces to celebrate Earth Day with activities April 19-22 on the Carson City campus.

Earth Day is a time to learn about environmental and climate issues, sustainable best practices, recycling, and more.

WNC has planned a number of Earth Day events, including the showing of a Leonardo DiCaprio film on climate change, as well as several environment speakers and information booths. The public is invited to celebrate the following Earth Day events at WNC at no charge.

Big laughs are in store tonight at the Carson Comedy Club featuring headliner Katsy Chappell with guests Roger Diez, and Norah McCoy.

Voted Entertainer of the Year by the Bob Hope USO Shows, Chappell has performed worldwide including comedy tours to Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait and Djibouti Africa entertaining the troops.

Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City will present the 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Festival, featuring 18 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in the capital city, Aug. 4-21.

As the three-day Presidents' Day weekend begins, Carson City has much to offer. Carson Comedy does a double-dose tonight with Rick D’Elia at the Carson Nugget and Craig ‘The Lovemaster’ Shoemaker at the Brewery Arts Center. World Dance Open Floor at Comma Coffee is like an open mic for dancers. Travel the world with the annual International Film Weekend at the Community Center; it's free and also features local Independent films. Karaoke, live music, dancing and more round out tonight's options.

FRIDAY:

Windy, rainy days are excellent for watching movies. Luckily, the International Film Weekend kicks off today with Chinese film, ‘Wolf Totem,’ in the Community Center Theater. Show up at 3 p.m. if you want to be wowed by some independent films from students at the UNR Reynolds School of Journalism.

Happily ever after is usually dismissed as a Disney movie ending, but bring your Mickey Mouse knowledge to the Carson Library for a family friendly trivia night. Jazz in on the menu at Living the Good Life, in addition to some delicious dinner options. Learn what a Gibson Girl of the Victorian era did to get her classic silhouette at the Dayton Historical Society meeting. Climate change is the focus of a documentary at Western Nevada College: all interested are invited. Keep reading for even more of Wednesday's options.

The fourth annual International Film Weekend on Feb. 16-18 in Carson City will feature three full-length movies, along with several short independent films.

Citizen's Climate Lobby, Carson City Chapter, invites you to a special screening of 'Before the Flood,' the National Geographic documentary film about Climate Change, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio.

An interior designer, Tricia Lincoln has a natural draw to the arts. The Fashion Film Festival on Friday piqued her interest, and gave her a reason to break out a new dress.

It's the first Friday of February and things are heating up. Not literally, mind you, that silly groundhog predicted more winter is on its way. Plenty of live music tonight will have you moving and grooving: Mo'z Motley Blues at Living the Good Life, Pawnshop at Westside Pour House, and Decoy at the Max Casino to name a few. Several new art exhibits are opening tonight, so make the rounds to the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, the Carson City Visitor Center, and Paradise Salon Spa Wellness if you want to hit them all.

There’s no need to travel to the Big Apple to celebrate New York Fashion Week. Fashionistas can walk the red carpet at The Nevada State Museum as part of a three-week film festival organized by Mark Salinas, the city’s arts and culture coordinator.

The Nevada State Museum in Carson City will host a Friday film series in February celebrating New York Fashion Week. Presented by the Carson City Visitors Bureau, the three-film series begins Friday, Feb. 3 and concludes Friday, Feb. 17.

The last weekend performances of Youth Theatre Carson City's production of Disney’s 'The Lion King Jr.', are Friday through Sunday, Jan. 20-22, in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Though the holiday season has come to an end, the students at CHS want the Carson City community to know the giving will be remembered and will continue. Carson High School's NJROTC cadets surprised their instructors James Ingram and Daniel Meyer when, two weeks before the end of the semester, they voted to adopt five families for the holidays.

Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team are excited to return to Nevada. They plan to film episodes of the hit series Americans throughout the region in spring 2017.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce our upcoming production of Disney’s 'The Lion King Jr.,' based on the classic animated Disney film and the groundbreaking Broadway musical, Friday through Jan. 22 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
