That name was Lois Marion Swart and the reason I read it several times is that she had exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1954 from my hometown of Carmichael, California. It was the middle of the 1990’s and I just started dialing the phone book. A man picked up the phone on my second call to a Swart family.

Memorial Day events at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley

The first is on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with a "Flag-In" event. Volunteers are asked to arrive no later than 8:30 AM to assist in placing an American flag on each gravesite. Participants will receive a free commemorative WW1 pin to show appreciation in preparing the cemetery for the main Memorial Day ceremony.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers arrest dangerous fugitive near Fernley
Submitted by editor on Thu, 10/22/2015 - 12:41pmNevada Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Colorado fugitive Tuesday east of Fernley who was wanted on felony charges, considered armed and dangerous and had made threats to authorities, an NHP Trooper said.
An attempt to locate the suspect, Eldon Lloyd Dick, 55 of Egnar, Colo near Grand Junction was advised statewide.
He had an active felony warrant out of the San Miguel County Court for charges including: first degree felony criminal trespass, child abuse, prohibited use of a weapon, harassment and criminal mischief, said NHP Trooper Duncan Dauber.

Washoe Drive Fire burns 26 homes, 3,900 acres, Highway 395 between Carson City and Reno still closed
Submitted by admin on Fri, 01/20/2012 - 10:58amOfficials reported this morning that the Washoe Drive Fire destroyed 26 homes, and has currently consumed 3,900 acres.
At a 9 a.m. press conference, officials reported the blaze is 50 percent contained, and that 700 firefighters are working to extinguish hot spots in advance of the high wind that are forecast for this afternoon.
There were 20 homes reported lost last night, but in the light of day, personnel working the fire were able to get a better count of the structures that burned.
