Genoa Concerts on the Green features Joey Carmon's 'Guitar Man' tribute to Jerry Reed

On warm summer evenings in Genoa, when the sun begins to dip behind the Sierra Nevada, and the shadows grow long, and the light turns amber and gold, people gather in the Genoa Park on the green grass with their picnic dinners to listen to music. Joey was born in Oneida, KY and raised in Winchester, KY. and he has the accent to prove it.

July 14th features Joey Carmon: "Guitar Man" Tribute show to Jerry Reed. Bring a picnic and a blanket to Genoa Town Park and enjoy an evening of free music!

Winners announced for Women to Women Nevada June contest

Women to Women Nevada with host Carol Paz offered June viewers a simple contest where the winners would get some really nice prizes.

It being July 1, that means winners for the June contest were picked today. The contest was easy. A number between 1 and 500 was selected prior to the launch of the contest. Entries had to guess what the number was to win.

Women to Women Nevada with Kame Masterson

Western Nevada College Summer Art Exhibition Features Space Photography

A fascinating and colorful exhibition of space photography is on display in Carson City at the Western Nevada College Main Art Gallery through August. 23. The collection contains several dozen large photographs of Earth’s moon, planets in our Solar System and their moons, and colorful nebulae.

A photograph of the Observatory under the night sky, taken over a 40-minute duration, offers a fascinating look at the movement of stars in the night sky.

Jazz and Beyond seeks volunteers for annual Carson City music festival

The "Jazz and Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" committee is seeking volunteers, sponsors, and program advertisers for the 10th annual festival, August 2-18.

The festival, which began in 2004, is presented by Mile High Jazz Band Association, Carson City, local businesses, and jazz lovers. It features more than 100 world class, regional musicians in over 40 performances and special programs at multiple venues in Carson City’s historic district, near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Beyond jazz, it includes bluegrass, blues, mariachi, and more.

Las Vegas artist Matthew Couper is the most recent artist to be displayed at the Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery in Carson City beginning June 3. Couper came from New Zealand to explore periods of Western art history. Through what he calls painterly investigations, he said, he has discovered that history often repeats. In the series, Valley of The Dry Bones, Couper uses the established Spanish Colonial narrative traditions to discuss the space between myth, religion and art politics. The Arts Council will host an artist talk at 6:30 p.m. and a reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
