Free cooking class in Dayton on Monday, Dec. 19

Join dietitian Kim Mason, AmeriCorps members, and Dayton Food Pantry Director Alie Trier for a healthy cooking demonstration, followed by dinner, on Monday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Dayton Valley Community Center, 170 Pike Street in Dayton.

Silver Springs, Nevada - There will be special holiday events and hours for Healthy Communities Coalition's Silver Stage Food Pantry, located at 3595 Ramsey Weeks Cutoff in Silver Springs. Normally, the Pantry is open Monday through Friday from 10am until 4pm. However, the Pantry will close at noon on Friday December 16th, and at noon on Monday, December 19th. The Pantry will also be closed on Tuesday, December 27th from noon to 2:30pm for a delivery.

Kathy McIntosh of Silver Springs Wins Nevada Governor’s Points of Light Award

Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute offers Organic Farming in the Sierra Workshop on Saturday, November 5, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Western Nevada College, 160 Campus Way in Fallon. Cost is $40 for those registering by October 28 and $45 afterward. The registration fee includes lunch and a copy of the book “July & Winter: Growing Food in the Sierra” by Gary Romano. Walmart helps sustain food pantries and job programs in rural Nevada communities

There was a lot of laughter and many hugs at a luncheon in Silver Springs as Bruce Barlow of Walmart presented a check for $70,000 to benefit the Dayton and Silver Stage Food Pantries.

Each summer, pantry volunteers, staff and participants host a lunchtime tour with key Walmart representatives to show their appreciation.
