These fun new trails are part of a network of non-motorized paths that connect residents with almost 5,000 acres of Carson City Parks and Open Space within the Carson River/Prison Hill area. Future plans include completing a multi-use path around Prison Hill.

Sushi lovers should head to Kim Lee’s Sushi for two for one beer and sake; just save some upside down shrimp for me.

"People who like trails get to use them, and if more people come into town there's better business and tourism,” said Anne Macquarie, moderator of the forum and founding president of Muscle Power: Citizens For A Bikeable and Walkable Carson City.

Don’t be dismayed though, plenty of summer fun can still be found. Sign the kids up for the Capital City Kids’ Triathlon at the Carson Aquatic Center. Head out to Mills Park for a few laps on the train or a picnic. Don’t miss out on making a bowl for the Empty Bowls project at the Farmers Market; or let the kids run off to the bounce house while you make a bowl yourself.

Wednesday launches official opening of new Kings Canyon, Waterfall Trailhead

Kings Canyon to Ash Canyon Trail Update

The Bike Smith hosted this particular work day, and many of the guys from the shop were there to lend a hand. We arrived at the Kings Canyon trailhead at 9:00 AM where we received a safety talk, a hard hat, and trail tools to carry up to the work site.
King Fire closes McKinney Rubicon Trail, prompts backcountry advisory for 2 wilderness areas
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/18/2014 - 11:21amBecause of the uncertain path of the King Fire, the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has closed the McKinney Rubicon Trail and is advising against travel into the Desolation or Granite Chief wildernesses.
The Eldorado National Forest has issued a forest closure for its Desolation Wilderness trails and trailheads. In particular, hikers and equestrians should consider cancelling plans for overnight travel into the Desolation and Granite Chief wildernesses.

The Clear Creek Trail is almost 10.5 miles long, is open to hikers, mountain bikes, equestrians and dogs, has no exit, and is currently 21-miles round-trip.
Mountain Bike Nevada Seeks Adventure Riders

"We're looking for riders who want to experience an epic ride across some of state's most spectacular terrain," said Todd Whear, ride organizer and event co-founder. The journey is touted as "once in a life-time experience" and is a fund-raising event for the Nevada Public Education Foundation.
