The break in the stormy weather was a short one, with more precipitation later in the day Wednesday, forecasters say. Activities around Carson City on Dec. 4 include a "Red Kettle" job hiring event at the Carson City Salvation Army, a Fitness Lab grand opening on Minnesota Street, a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, library activities, classes and more.

Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders game watch Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1:25 p.m. at Jimmy G's, 301 North Carson Street, in Carson City.

The Oakland Raiders take on the Tennessee Titans for a still-small chance of taking a wildcard spot for the AFC playoffs.

Membership to the Chapter is $20 per person. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials to Chapter members; a potluck with delicious food will be available for a small donation.

With snow overnight into the morning, the eve of Thanksgiving will bustle with last minute food shopping and, for many, preparing for an extended holiday weekend. The biggest holiday celebration in Carson City, the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights, is scheduled to bring holiday cheer to the masses on Friday, Dec. 6.

The Silver and Snowflakes Festival has been the official beginning of the holiday season for years, with the lighting of the great Christmas tree on Capitol grounds. Keep an eye out for Santa Claus, the Grinch, Max the dog, and Carson City's 5th graders who will be singing their hearts out while the tree is lit!

Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host a game watch for Oakland Raiders fans at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St. in Carson City. The Raiders will take on the New York Jets in New York.

While much of the nation is stuck in an arctic freeze, we're stranded with abundant sunshine in Nevada's capital city area with temperatures well above normal for this time of year. Going into the middle of the work week we can expect highs near 70. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the second annual Evening with Divas in Carson City, a Día de Muertos celebration at the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Artists Association’s 40th anniversary celebration, paranormal ghost investigations in Virginia City, a pie baking contest in Gardnerville and much more!

Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raider vs Detroit Lions game watch at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Game watches are held at Jimmy G's 301 N. Carson St. Club members will bring food to share, while Jimmy G's offers drink specials to club members.

Going into the eve of Halloween, teeth will be chattering as the weather calls for sunny skies but with a chill in the air and daytime temperatures in the upper 40s around the capital city. Events around town Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 include a Halloween costume walk at Riverview Park in Carson City, a "trick or trunk" event in Dayton, art showings, storytelling at the Carson City Library and more.

Nevada Raider Nation - Carson City Chapter will host a game watch of the Oakland Raiders vs Chicago Bears at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St., in Carson City.

The game, televised live from London, will be shown on three TV screens. New members are welcome to watch with the veterans, and are welcome to join. Membership is $20 per person.

Events include the 100th annual Candy Dance in Genoa, the Carson City Community Center Garage Sale, free walks at Nevada State Parks, Virginia City’s Street Vibrations Fall Rally, the 31st annual All-Breed Dog Shows, The Beatles Flashback tribute band concert and much more!

Jamming into the midweek, events lined up for Wednesday, Sept. 25 around the capital city include a Carson City Chamber's Soup's On luncheon with a primer on blockchain. The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host its monthly Business Edge meeting at Casino Fandango with a focus on Nevada's energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Also happening: Fusion cooking classes at Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton headquarters, plus the Veterans Resource Group will make a visit to the Dayton Food Pantry. There's also a Wine and Moondance Chocolate Pairing at Expresso Yourself inside the Brewery Arts Center, plus art workshops and showings, Salsa dancing and more.

Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders vs Indianapolis Colts Game Watch at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St., in Carson City.

New fans are welcome to join Chapter members and root on the Oakland Raiders. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials, while members will grill hot dogs for the crowd. Donations to cover the cost of food are accepted. A 50/50 cash drawing will be held as well.
