The Carson City Symphony Association presentation of “Joyful Noise — A Holiday Treat” concert is available for viewing on the Carson City Symphony channel on YouTube here and from Facebook.com/CarsonCitySymphony here. The concert features John and Cherie Shipley with their Joyful Noise Chorus and Band. They have been performing "Joyful Noise" concerts each December since 2002.

This year has been extremely challenging and with the impact of Covid; many of our families are struggling to ensure they can celebrate Christmas. However, generous community members have come together determined to help these families have a Christmas celebration not even Covid can stop.

He is a senior at Carson High School, and his last year is, to say the least, unconventional. Adults have had their say, so how about a chat with this popular young man as he sports a 1980s hairstyle called a mullet in which the hair is short on the sides and long at the front and back.

The Carson City Library is hiring to fill an open Digitorium Internship. Digitorium interns help manage the library's teen space and assist with program planning and implementation. The Digitorium Internship starts Sept. 1 and runs through the 2020/2021 school year.

With COVID-19 decreasing face-to-face interaction, it is more important than ever for small businesses to connect successfully with their customers, and potential customers, through their websites and digital media. University of Nevada, Reno Extension is offering an online town hall this Wednesday on website best practices for small businesses.

Just like all of the other seniors here at the school, I am working on my Senior Project, a graduation requirement, in order to benefit not only myself but also those animals in the community who need a home.

Noble Studios, a creative digital performance agency, is calling on all Nevada nonprofits from Las Vegas to Reno to Elko and beyond to submit an application for their community service program, Noble Deeds, by March 6, 2020. The Noble Deeds program provides more than $200,000 in pro bono digital marketing services to one or more Nevada nonprofits during the calendar year.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its Photo Finished 2020 exhibition at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 East Proctor Street in Carson City.

Following a collaborative recruitment between the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and Carson Tahoe Health, Lorrel Toft, M.D., F.A.C.C., a cardiovascular critical care physician and researcher, has been recruited as an associate professor for UNR Med’s Department of Internal Medicine as well as a cardiologist on staff with Carson Tahoe Health.

April was an action packed month as several Carson High School clubs put on The Friendship Ball, A Night Under the Big Top Father Daughter Ball, and The Greatest Show on Earth 2019 Prom. Even more amazing than the dances are the students behind the scenes who, with the guidance of Leadership Adviser Ann Britt and FBLA Adviser Angila Golik, transformed the CHS Big Gym so that all visitors, young and old alike, would think they had walked into a beautiful dream.

Some may call this hyperbole, but if someone actually took the time to do the research, he would find hyperbole is not the case as further evidence of this may be seen in the following letter written to all teachers within the school district by a friendly, kind, and professional Superintendent, Richard Stokes.

Muscle Powered: Citizens for a Walkable and Bikeable Carson City announced the “No Zombie Texting” award winners May 16 at The Brewery Arts Center, showcasing winning videos so the public could see the creative endeavors of young video artists from the community.

Teacher Appreciation week across the United States was May 7-11, and many teachers in the Carson City School District experienced appreciation unequaled in memory.

Students across the country, including those in Carson City, walked out of class Wednesday, marking one month since a mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., left 17 dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Writing from Mars," by artist Rick Parsons at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, February 2, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from February 2 – May 23, 2018.

With an estimated 2,300 students attending Carson High School in 2017-18, plenty of clubs and courses can help pave the way toward a smooth school year.

Embracing the area's manufacturing community, the Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, "Industrial Art: Sports Edition", at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery from June 9 – September 28, 2017. CCAI will host a reception for the show on Friday, June 9, 5-7pm including a short introduction of the exhibition participants at 5:30pm. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

The New Entrepreneur Network of the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation, together with the Carson City Library, will kick off the second Middle School Maker Camp during Spring Break, March 21-23, 2017.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Candidate Forum at the Gold Dust West today beginning at noon. This forum, presented live in the attached video below, gives the community another chance to hear and meet the candidates for mayor and supervisor prior to the start of early voting.

Carson High School Career and Technical Education graphic design student, Jose Conchas Vargas, has been selected to attend the Smallwood Multi-Media Boot Camp June 13-23 at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center.

Carson City Library will host an OverDrive Workshop on Thursday, February 25, at 3 p.m. in the Library Training Hub, located on the second floor. The growing popularity of e-Readers has expanded with the availability of titles, and OverDrive offers a convenient way to borrow and download e-books and audio-books from the library’s growing collection.

On display in the Whittemore Gallery of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, University of Nevada, Reno is the exhibit Media Technology: Past and Present. Through this exhibit, visitors will enjoy a visual display of media technological leaps.

Mark Gandolfo, lead curator and Director of Digital Media Technology, stated "It is fascinating to view the analog to digital evolution in media production technology through these artifacts on display. Students are amazed at the size and amount of equipment needed for past high quality multimedia production."
