Carson City Library Tech Two classes to offer Excel training

Microsoft Excel Formatting will be offered at 6:00 pm on September 10th and is a prerequisite to the second class, Microsoft Excel Calculations offered at 6:00 pm September 17th.

You do need to bring the flyer with you if you want Applebee's to donate a portion of your bill. Print it out or grab a copy at the Library’s youth desk.
Changes at the Carson City Business Resource Innovation Center coming in January
Submitted by editor on Thu, 12/18/2014 - 1:58pmThe business branch of the Carson City Library, currently housed at the Business Resource Innovation Center (the “BRIC”), will be relocating back to the main branch in January 2015. The BRIC Carson City library resources will close on Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. and are scheduled to reopen in the main library Jan. 26.
“With the new technology assets at the main branch, it makes sense to bring the BRIC resources back to the main branch,” said Sena Loyd, Carson City Library director.
Carson City Library hosts free online job seminar March 4
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 02/24/2014 - 4:20pmCarson City Library and the premier online research and reference tool, ReferenceUSA, will host “Find a Job by Using RefUSA at Your Library” a free job seminar, on Tuesday, March 4, at 1 pm at the @ Two Digital Learning Center on the second floor of the library.
This demonstration will provide helpful tips and resources such as interview tips, how to write a resume, and job searching tips. Other tools include salary estimates, job articles and continuing education.
Carson City Library tech training services in demand

A calendar of librarian-led training classes and workshops is updated monthly and offers new classes based on patron demand.
Social Networking for Seniors: Learn to Engage on Social Media

Located on the second floor of the library annex, above the current Youth Department, @Two has been a busy community resource for patrons over the last year. Unfortunately access to the second-floor has been unreliable thanks to an aging and highly temperamental elevator.
Carson City Library named Connect Nevada's 'Broadband Hero' for excellence
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 11/18/2013 - 4:57pmDuring the third annual Connect Nevada Broadband Summit held at the University of Nevada, Reno, the Carson City Library was named Connect Nevada’s 2013 Broadband Hero.
The summit theme, Learning in the Digital Space, was designed to promote access, adoption, and use of broadband in education. In collaboration with Governor Sandoval’s Nevada Broadband Task Force, Connect Nevada is working to bring the benefits of universal broadband to the state.
Carson City Library summer enrichment programs bridge opportunity gap for local youth
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 08/16/2013 - 1:03amBetween June 7 and August 4 the Carson City Library engaged a record breaking 2,750 youth, ages 6 – 17, in signups for the 2013 summer reading program and attendance in summer learning activities. In that time, more than 21,788 items circulated from the library’s youth collection, primarily traditional books but also e-readers like Kindles, iPads, PlayAways and PlayAway Views.

Summer reading pages for prizes, technology enrichments, video journalism and art clinics are among the most popular ways youth are spending time.
C-SPAN visits Carson City to capture unique past with historians, authors
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/08/2013 - 5:21pmCarson City Mayor Robert Crowell and invited guests welcomed the 100 million household TV giant C-SPAN and its cable carrier Charter Communications to the steps of the capitol building for the first day of a week-long visit to the capital city.
C-SPAN’s video-journalists aim to capture Carson City’s history and literary journey as told by local historians, published authors and long-time residents. Collected stories will air August 3 and 4 on Charter channels 235 and 236 on C-SPAN’s American History TV and Book TV.
Explore the World at Your Library: New Zealand

Library staff member Una Gauper recently visited the island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Her journey spanned months of travel and adventure. Her large network of extended family provided expert travel guidance as she experienced the culture and explored the landscape.

Digital Learning Center launches Tuesday in Carson City

Located on the second floor of the library annex, above the current Youth Department, the center has been introduced to computer-using patrons over the last several weeks and now the community is invited, according to a news release
