Carson City, Carson Valley Letters to Santa Toy Drive reaches pen pal in Mexico

Carson City-based DeBug Computer faced a Christmas challenge. Every year, the company hosts a Photos with Santa event with proceeds going to a local non-profit. The DeBug team huddled with Santa to discuss how to reach the children safely during the coronavirus pandemic. They decided to ask children, with their parents’ consent and supervision, to email a letter to Santa@debugcomputer.net.

Barham named Northern Nevada coordinator for non-profit that provides comfort for children with cancer

Debbie Barham, co-owner of Carson City-based DeBug Computer, Inc., has been named Northern Nevada coordinator for Ryan’s Case for Smiles, a non-profit with thousands of volunteers across the globe providing comfort to children with cancer.

DeBug Computer to offer E-waste, document shredding day in Carson City, Minden

DeBug Computer is hosting its annual Community Shredding Day event on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon in Carson City and 1 to 3 p.m. in Minden. The event is free of charge and is designed to help protect against identity theft by shredding sensitive documents or obsolete computers and technology.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless welcomes DeBug Computer into its Donation Site community for pet food and supplies that will be delivered to local food banks, homeless shelters or homeless encampments. Donations may be taken to DeBug’s Carson City location at 1817 N. Stewart Street No. 30, or its Carson Valley location at 1560 U.S. Hwy 395 N. #C in Minden.

CARSON CITY — Debbie Barham, co-owner of DeBug Computer, presented a check for $500 raised at the company’s annual Photos with Santa event over the holidays to Barbara Slade, program and equine manager for Between Horses and Humans at the organization’s Gardnerville riding arena.

The last Thursday of November means a big gobble gobble, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. With the surge of Internet and phone scams, it's critical that all be vigilant when anyone contacts you with a deal that sounds too good to be true, is threatening legal action and demanding money, tells you to buy prepaid gift cards (iTunes, Visa, Mastercard, etc), someone posing as Microsoft, Yahoo, or other Internet company telling you that you're computer is infected and want to charge to clean it up remotely, or wire or transfer money from your bank account.

Santa Claus will be visiting DeBug Computer in Carson City on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. to help bring Christmas cheer to those less fortunate. You'll find Debug in their new location at 1817 N. Stewart St, #30.

This is DeBug’s fourth year putting on an event to help the sheriff’s office with its Holiday with a Hero event, which pairs up Carson City sheriff's deputies, firefighters and public officials with dozens of pre-selected local students, many of whom don't have permanent homes and live in poverty.

In Plain Sight Marketing founder Renee Taylor Plain and Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell each made $100 donations Monday to Holiday with a Hero. They are asking small business owners, those in local government and community members to give what they can.
