DeBug Computer to hold Saturday with Santa photo fundraiser for sheriff's office Holiday with a Hero project
DeBug Computer’s Carson City office will take photos of children with Santa Claus and make prints for parents this Saturday in exchange for a donation to help local homeless children have a Christmas with gifts through the 9th annual Holiday with a Hero project.
The public is invited to stop by the Carson City Debug Computer office, 591 South Saliman Road, Suite 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the event. They will have a photographer on site and will be taking photos of kids with Santa and then make prints in exchange for a donation of whatever one can afford ($5 suggested.)
All donations will go to the Holiday with a Hero project, an event where local children without permanent homes are given a chance to shop for gifts at Walmart. Debug Computer will do this on a first come first serve basis and hope to see as many children as possible.
If you have any questions call (775) 883-3630 (Carson City office) or (775) 782-0303 (Minden office).
This is the 9th year for the program, which is organized through the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, with partnerships through the Carson City School District, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Corrections and the Uniformed First Responders.
The event, to be held at Walmart on Tuesday, Dec. 17, provides around 175 children of Carson City with a positive experience with a uniformed officer where the kids are given gift cards so that they can buy necessities they need such as clothing and shoes, as well as one "fun" gift such as a toy, for themselves.
The students are chosen from the school district’s “Students in Transition” program and are usually children who live with their parents in motel rooms, shelters or are living with other family members.
Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Daniel Gonzales said this year has been especially critical on local children. At least $20,000 is needed in this community event to meet the needs of the program and the children it is serving this year.
You can also donate at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser or go into the Bank of the West branch, 2976 N. Carson St., and ask for the Holidays with a Hero account.
