Heading into the weekend and inching closer to Thanksgiving, there’s a number of activities around the Carson City region. The fourth annual Carson Valley Turkey Trot begins Friday and will be held virtually throughout the month of November. Combined with live music and Open Mic Night at A to Zen, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

The Carson Mall has been approved to start doing our events again and our first event will be Nevada Day.

Heading into Christmas Eve, activities around the capital city are winding down, but the last minute shopping will continue, so prepare for that rush on the roadways and at local stores. It is the last day of the Holiday Craft Show at Carson Mall, so stop on by. There are no planned Muscle Powered fitness events scheduled. Christmas Eve church services are at First Presbyterian Church in Carson City and other places of worship around town. Here's what's ahead Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019.

Heading into Monday, it sure does feel like Christmas around the capital City. With only two shopping days left until Christmas be sure stop by the Carson Mall for the final days of its Holiday Craft Show. Weather wise we're looking at some valley snow showers into the afternoon and evening. Activities include a spirited discussion by local historian CW Bayer about the origins of Reno's tawdry reputation, plus Carson Cigar Company will hold its annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. On Saturday, Dec. 14, Linda Ritter, artist and owner of Pinyon Pottery, will demonstrate the art of pottery making between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. bringing in her pottery wheel to the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, 1900 S. Carson Street. Many of her art pieces will be on display and for sale, just in time for the holidays.

The break in the stormy weather was a short one, with more precipitation later in the day Wednesday, forecasters say. Activities around Carson City on Dec. 4 include a "Red Kettle" job hiring event at the Carson City Salvation Army, a Fitness Lab grand opening on Minnesota Street, a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, library activities, classes and more.

The annual Carson Mall Holiday Craft Show is now underway! Every day until Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can visit the Carson Mall in Carson City, which has been turned into a winter wonderland.

Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

With Thanksgiving leftovers winding down, we're winding up to the second day in December and the first day of the work week ahead, with activities lined up through the weekend. For Monday, activities around the capital city include a free yoga class offered through Partnership Carson City, a discussion on the Tom Steyer campaign hosted by the Carson City Democratic Men's Club, art events and more. The Holiday Craft show will be held from now till 12-24-19 in the interior of the mall. 10 am -6 pm each vendor offers a unique gift the vendors change every week. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include Polar Express train rides, Touched By Angels hosts a garden craft show on Saturday, a night photo shoot at the Nevada State museum, Rob Sherwood headlines the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget, 'Matilda the Musical' and more!

Touched by Angels in Carson City will host a Home and Garden Craft Show this Saturday at 205 East John Street. Celebrating its 9th year, the show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be great food and a raffle. See the beautiful creations of 29 local artisans metal work, bird houses, local honey, jewelry and much more.

Counting down the hours until the Nevada Day weekend celebration begins, we're heading into Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 with sunny skies in the forecast through Sunday. Thursday opens the first of the four-day annual RSVP Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park with $1 ride family night hosted by Carson City Toyota. Other activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities, a gold and silver rush presentation at the Nevada State Museum and more.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

With Easter a week away, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance at the Carson Mall in Carson City this Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 and again on April 20. Precious Moments will be joining the craft show, as it hosts the Easter Bunny who will have a special prize for each child.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eight days before the presidential election of 1864, Nevada became the 36th state in the union. Hello Carson City and welcome to Friday, Nevada Day, Oct. 26, 2018. Today is the observed state holiday, where businesses are open but state and local government offices and schools are closed. Meanwhile, the capital city itself is getting warmed up for a three-day weekend and famed parade that celebrates statehood.

Nevada Day Celebration begins on Friday, October 26th with the Passport to Downtown event, Curry Street Ribbon Cutting, Raffles, and more.
