Superheroes sought: Carson City CASA hosts information hour, training this Thursday
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 07/08/2019 - 1:28pmEvery child needs a hero, but abused children need Superheroes. We’ve heard a million times that kids are sponges, absorbing all that they see and hear. That includes the good, the bad and the ugly. It makes sense that they want to imitate one of the good guys in a show or cartoon. To a child, a superhero is magical. A superhero is powerful! A superhero can help keep them safe.

More than 700,000 children experience abuse and/or neglect each year. Instead of playing with neighbors and making happy family memories, they’re attending court hearings, adjusting to new foster homes and transitioning to new schools. That’s a heavy burden for a child to carry.
