CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate and we are a nonprofit organization that speaks up for children in child welfare cases. Children many times get lost in the process of child welfare. They need strong, compassionate and dedicated adults to help assist them during their time in foster care.
Volunteers will learn how to advocate for a child's medical needs, engaging in school, and listening to what that child wants. Volunteers will submit an independent report to the Juvenile Court for the Judge to evaluate the CASAs suggestions and recommendations as to the permanency plan for that child. CASAs are very much so the child's voice in these proceedings.
Many times, CASAs are that one constant, strong, secure adult voice in that child's life. CASAs are able to engage with their children in a variety of settings, getting to know that child and their family.
Make a difference today! Find out what it means to be a CASA volunteer. Come to the Information Hour and ask your questions about time commitments, training and background checks.
