A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 50 E. for suspicion of domestic battery after pushing her boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car, something she said he did on purpose because she was going to break up with him, according to a sheriff's office booking report. The boyfriend was also arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.

Steven L. David, born December 10, 1955, passed away on the morning of Saturday November 28th, 2020 at his home with his wife Debbie at his side.

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development Board of Directors on Wednesday approved abatements for 11 companies that it says will generate $90,207,019 in tax revenue and create 1,991 jobs over the next 10 years. Of the 11 companies, two are based in Lyon County and six in Washoe County.

Cary Richardson, vice president of business operations for Miles Construction of Carson City, Nev., has been appointed to the National Cannabis Industry Association Facilities Design Committee. The committee focuses on providing NCIA members across the country guidelines and framework for building design options for legal producers of cannabis as the market transitions from a state to a federally regulated industry.

New speed limit zones have been put into place on South Carson Street, slowing down traffic as the area transitions from highway to commercial zone and as the finishing touches are added at the roundabout.

In response to the mandated social distancing, many businesses have established outdoor seating areas. With the approaching winter season, the Board of Supervisors recently authorized the City to use CARES Act money for portable outdoor heaters in order to reinforce the necessary protocols.

CARSON CITY — Employment in Nevada increased over the month by 3,600 jobs as the state continues to recover. Jobs still remain below typical levels, down by 117,200 compared to October 2019, for an annual rate of -8.2 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s October 2020 economic report.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department opened three new segments of trail following an Oct. 30 ribbon cutting. These fun new trails are part of a network of non-motorized paths that connect residents with almost 5,000 acres of Carson City Parks and Open Space within the Carson River/Prison Hill area. Future plans include completing a multi-use path around Prison Hill.

Sierra Nevada Realtors is proud to announce its donation of $3,000 to Carson Tahoe Health Foundation’s annual Hopefest event. Many of SNR’s respected members and affiliates came together to ensure that the organization’s long history of supporting Hopefest wouldn’t be interrupted despite having to cancel its annual Cornhole Tournament fundraiser.

Local non-profit GREENevada announced Thursday the winners of the 2020 Golden Pinecone Sustainability Awards, a prestigious annual event recognizing local individuals and organizations working towards a more sustainable Nevada.

The Nevada Builders Alliance, owner of the Bank Saloon, has requested assistance by the Brewery Arts Center to solicit proposals from local artists to beautify the electric transformer box located at their property on the corner of Carson and 5th streets. The owners of the property are looking for designs that will go with the established aesthetic of both inside and outside of the bank saloon.

In response to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program has allocated the Nevada Non-Entitlement CDBG Program through the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development the amount of $283,213 to Carson City. From the $283,213, $70,426 has not been funded. This notice is to fund the remaining $70,426.

October 15, 2020 The Lyon County Board of Commissioners Directed the County Manager to being back a recommendation to change the language on the Brothel Ordinance that would allow for escort services and other changes as allowed in other counties.
